mingus User Info... | Let me frame this by saying that i just spent a month in Toronto and Montreal playing shows, seeing shows, jamming with great musicians, and going to after-hours bars. I used to live in Victoria but always felt it was ...well...sleepy. So, surprised was I when Ifound this board and realized there is a scene clawing its way into existence in that puddle of seeming indifference. As part of my band's Canadian Tour (and to stop in and say hi to some folks) we played Lucky Bar on a tuesday a few weeks back. We hooked up (through this board) with 'Better Rhetoric' and were stoked by the mp3s of them. They were even better in person as is so often the case. The bass was phat, drums tight, the dj was spinning and the lyrics took flight. The crowd seemed to know a lot of their songs and really got into it. The lyrics could have benefitted from a crisper mic (it's great stuff so you gotta hear it). That bar is a class act that Victoria is ...wait for it...'Lucky' to have. cheers darren (taiwanmilk ) - Thu, 30 Oct 2003 3:07am | ||
