Soap Dodger User Info... | This was my third Sasquatch, and a lot of fun. You can't really beat a good camping trip - and when you combine it with a three day music festival you can't lose. Highlights: the Flaming Lips UFO show: I don't listen to their music ever, but easily the most impressive spectacle of a live show that I've seen. A giant UFO that decended on the stage, naked women dancing on stage during a cover of the song remains the same, Wayne the singer walking out into the crowd on a giant hamster ball, 20 or so aliens hanging out on stage shooting confetti bombs into the crowd. A great way to close out the three day event. the Hives - another band that I don't listen to ever, but had a great live show with tons of energy, and entertaining banter No beer lineups or dumbass rules about how much you're allowed to drink. Security at the entrance. You could pretty much stuff as much booze as you like in your pack as long as you had a blanket on top. The Gorge: Amazing outdoor venue Kathleen Edwards, Rogue Wave, the National, Modest Mouse, New Pornographers (full lineup), Flight of the Conchords, Rodrigo & Gabriella, Built to Spill, Beirut, Death Cab for Cutie It was great to see that REM still rock out after so many years, though they played too much new material for my taste. Considering that it was raining pretty hard during their set it would have been good to hear more of their classics. I fell asleep during the Cure after too many $11 Coors (24 oz cans), but my girlfriend enjoyed their set. Lowlights: $11 cans of american beer Overpriced shit food at the gorge Modest Mouse, the National, and Okkervil River all playing at the same time on different stages. I opted for most of the National and the last few songs of Modest Mouse, but would have liked to watch all 3 in their entirety. - Fri, 30 May 2008 1:36pm | ||
