So we got Defiance Friday night, w/Dead River Wasteland & Verbal Deception opening. It kinda sucks for you guys that they skipped Victoria. Anyway, the VD pirate metal went over really well, not my thing though. DRW are one of my favorite metal bands - they always go hard.
Defiance was probably one of the best punk bands I've ever seen at the Cobalt, but it was almost a mistake putting them up with a metal band. They were potent and nasty and had it all, but just like a punk band they got all pissy about half way through about not having enough beer, then they looked winded, then they got all whiney about the crowd being lame, then they fizzled out and kinda died. Reminded me of back in the day seeing killer/pathetic bands like the Bulemics & Fuckemos in Texas who prided themselves in that kinda thing.
I'll still say they were excellent, but good metal bands stay fit and keep it up strong til the end, ha!

The pit was good and ugly for all those spikey haired little dirtbags, and the best one I've seen in a while... good for those guys making the most of it, they were going all out. A great night. - Sun, 8 Apr 2007 3:54am Edited: Sun, 8 Apr 2007 3:58am
