Aidan Logins User Info... | The Zolas were pretty awesome. They were a great opener; they really got the crowd going. They had a very honest sound, and were very open and personal and looked like they were having a lot of fun and wanted to share that with the audience. And the music was really good for the style, lots of tempo changes and cool bits that made the songs memorable. Mother Mother was the tightest band I've ever seen. The guitarist was amazing in his strange way. Lots of dissonant chords and solos that seem like they're purposefully off key. Lots of crazy transitions. The music is good, the playing is good, the light show was good. But it didn't really connect the way Zolas did. With Zolas it looked like they were having fun and rocking out, but when Mother Mother came on it looked like they were an ultra polished band that was very good but just doing what they do every night like work. Every little thing they did, you could tell it was exactly the same as they do it at every show. It all felt very contrived. I appreciate putting the work into putting on an entertaining show, but there must be some element of spontaneity to make a unique and special connection with the audience. They sounded like a pop band playing rock music. They didn't try to interact with the audience. I got a weird overall vibe from it, like I was being performed at instead of sharing the experience. Anyway, extremely good musicians and good songs and a fun show. Element has really good sound these days. - Thu, 10 Jun 2010 11:25am
superslacks User Info... | Sounds like typical Mother Mother to me - they might as well play to a click track. Some people like that though. . . "must sound like the album" . . . - Sun, 13 Jun 2010 9:17pm
