micoll User Info... | where do y'all look for used gear these days (other than here)? i seem to recall that the tc used to have a decent amount of gear listed generally, but not any more. could it be that all the gear comes here, or is there another resource? - Thu, 16 Oct 2003 11:33pm
ticklefish User Info... | I know we had this discussion on your thread about the Telecaster, but seriously, it is all going to Ebay. People are getting good prices for their stuff, it moves fast. If you don't want to buy on Ebay, that is cool, but you really should take a look at it and watch it for a few weeks and see the sheer volume of guitars/amps/effects/cables/mics/mixers and other stuff that moves on Ebay.ca - Fri, 17 Oct 2003 8:45am

micoll User Info... | yeah, you know, you had some good points about ebay. "buy low, sell high." this is very true. - Sun, 19 Oct 2003 11:10pm
ticklefish User Info... | IF you don't want to shop ebay that is fine by me, and I understand why many guitarists and other musicians don't want to buy something they haven't touched or seen. the point is there are a shitload of people out there who are willing to do that, and every now and again there are sellers on Ebay who have no clue what they are selling, and you can score a killer deal. It is just like a thrift store, 99% of the time there isn't anything worth getting there, but 1% of the time, there is. And if you don't like what you bought, you put it back on Ebay with a reserve price matching what you paid for it, adn then it won't resell for a loss. - Tue, 21 Oct 2003 9:43am
micoll User Info... | yeah, certainly good points, especially for gear. guitars are a bit of a different story, but if you can easily resell at the price you paid, who cares. - Tue, 21 Oct 2003 3:55pm
ticklefish User Info... | I agree. I have been wanting a Nashville Tele for a while, and they run ~$1200 at L&M. Too rich for my blood these days. So I keep looking at Ebay, but can't quite commit to buying an axe that way.... but if I saw an auction with a few hours left on it and a price of $500 sitting on one of those? Heck, I'd buy it sight unseen. If it just didn't feel "right", I'd take it to a store and see what I got in trade-in value on it, might even get more than you paid for it. - Wed, 22 Oct 2003 1:29pm
