I have decided that it is time for me to part with my old workhorse keyboard so here you go: Kawai K4 synthesizer manual plus additional third party programming guide memory card power adapter gig bag $300 For those unfamiliar with the K4, it's a PCM based synth with some unusual features. The filter is one of the crudest and skronkiest resonant digital jobbies around and makes for some nice clangifourous type sounds. It also has a pretty crappy distortion and reverb effect which just add to the gritty charm. The sample set has enough basics to be usable (strings, some analog stuff and drum bits) and as a first keyboard, sample fodder or controller you could do a hell of a lot worse. Editing is very straight forward and there are some nice options like ring modulation to dirty stuff up. The keyboard is in decent shape for an 80s keyboard and has no broken keys or knobs. I was using it mainly as occasional sample source and second MIDI controller for the last number of years but earlier it was my one and only keyboard and has stood me well through the years.
