Anonymous | That was pretty good. Hey why do you like hatebreed? I have listened to them alot to try and figure out why they are so popular, and there album perserverence made me laugh my ass off the first time I heard it, just like eminem. But just like eminem I fail to see how you can listen to it more than a couple of times at best. that one song I will Be Heard was good the first time but its song structure is lacking big time and it sounds like he is trying to be a bad version of Corey Taylor. I have to give them the credit for being alot better musicians then most 'nu' metal, but I don't see it as musically rewarding. The entire album is all about the same thing, perservering. Every song is just saying the same thing the previous track did, in a somewhat different format. they are not at all original, and there is not one riff that sticks in your head. It is all about the vocals, and as a musician I figured you would appreciate metal for the very fact that what is being said is not nearly as important as how you say it. I think, Hatebreed is a mix between Limp Bizkit and Slipknot. What is the exact appeal, is it a comedy thing, or do you just enjoy the music? - Sun, 6 Apr 2003 1:54pm
ROSS B AY User Info... | It's all just personal taste I suppose. I mean, why does anyone like anything right? I grew up a redneck shitkicker, so anything you can hold a beer to and is sledgehammer heavy is good to me. Drinking music basically. Yeah it's all the same, that's part of the appeal. You don't have to think too deep and the words aren't poetry or some shit you have to decipher. Sometimes I just like to throw something in the player and just have it on, you know? If I want to hear something that makes me think, I'll go elsewhere. But sometimes music is just music. They got a schtick, and that's cool too. Same reason I used to listen to nothing but Metallica. You always knew what you were gonna get. I don't listen to a lot of stuff that's political or like that, mainly because I just don't want to hear it, and also because, like AC/DC and bands like that, you can just play it and enjoy it and it doesn't mean anything. Sometimes there's nothing better than listening to some heavy metal and drinking a few beers. Yeah. And really, they aren't that popular at all. Just among metalheads, and you can't get rich playing hardcore metal that's for sure. I mean it's not like they live in mansions or anything. They have to play year round to survive, and that's part of the appeal too. They aren't talking shit about Napster or royalties or other bands. They seem just like their fans. You don't see that much these days. - Sun, 6 Apr 2003 2:08pm
Anonymous | Yup, sometimes you just like the music. I personally do not get it though. If I was at a party and it got thrown in the CD player I wouldn't say shit, but if someone threw in some new metallica or Ill Nino, you would hear about it. I like Rob Zombie, he makes me laugh and I believe his music has a high comedic value. No one can take him seriously right? But alot of my musician buddies despise him, and so I understand where you are coming from, i just do not see hatebreed as a band that a musician would appreciate. Maybe it helps make you more diverse though. - Sun, 6 Apr 2003 2:17pm
ROSS B AY User Info... | oh yeah by the way, the egg cartons are gone. - Sun, 6 Apr 2003 2:19pm

ROSS B AY User Info... | Yeah, I like stripped down shit like that, partly because it's easy to play and I'm no good, and partly because you don't have to be a musician to appreciate it. I grew up listening to shit like AC/DC and Def Leppard and Quiet Riot and Twisted Sister and crap like that, so I just thought great bands sounded like that. Some bands are wicked show offs with the structures and the intricate playing and all that, and that's cool, but I think you're playing for a certain crowd that way. I always wanted to be in a band that just plays heavy shit and you can drink to. That's it. Now I am, and it feels gooood..... - Sun, 6 Apr 2003 2:36pm
