Brad | Wait a sec, I purchased this amp from a peavey dealer in CA. Before I ever turned it on I took it to a peavey tech and had the preamp worked to Dave Mustains specs, retubed, and set it aside in the box it came in. I warmed it up for 30 minutes and played through it for another 30. It has been in the box untouched since. It's worth $400 to me just to keep for a possible recording project later. I thought maybe there is more value to it than $100. Also factory tube retainers were installed by the same tech. - Mon, 24 Mar 2003 2:07pm
Anonymous | Dave Mustains specs ? on a peavey classic 20 ? you asked for offers, so i offered. The unfortunate thing is that you did all this work to a peavey amp, maybe if you bought a real amp you wouldnt of had to. So who are you recording with ? - Mon, 24 Mar 2003 5:06pm
Anonymous | Ok forget it! There is a reason why some guitarist like a 16ohm transformer. Dave recorded 2 studio albums with the same mods. - Mon, 24 Mar 2003 8:06pm
Anonymous | check around, several great rock guitarists use this amp for their recording. Sorry I got impatient, just seems like people dont know what I'm talking about here in Vic until I prove myself. - Mon, 24 Mar 2003 8:09pm

Anonymous | Is the 5150 based on the classic series tube amps? - Wed, 26 Mar 2003 1:40am
Anonymous | no the 5150 is in a league of there own. The classic 20 is similar to a blues junior if i am correct, combo with 1x12 speaker configuration - Wed, 26 Mar 2003 9:48am
Anonymous | the thing with peavey amps is they are not a good investment if you plan on selling them down the road. So if you buy one you better well be sure this is an amp you want to keep. whenever I see 5150 combo going for sale in this towns, its usually between $600-$700, and i think they are least $1800 new. - Wed, 26 Mar 2003 9:49am
Anonymous | The blues jr has preamp gain of 2, the 5150 is a 5, and the classic 20 is a 3 from the factory and a 4 with slight tweaks and a 5 to 5 1/2 with mild circuit mods. The blues jr is very limited to mods and dynamic range. - Wed, 26 Mar 2003 9:54am
Anonymous | the fender blues jr has a higher clean volume by far. - Wed, 26 Mar 2003 9:57am
Anonymous | marshall jcm800 has a gain of 4 stock. Mesa's are 4 to 5. Plexi heads are a 2 unless modified or pushed hard to meet a 4 with eq tweaks. - Wed, 26 Mar 2003 9:59am
gibson | i love it how everyone shits on peaples forsale ads. that said. no matter what you think the amp is worth. it still a peavey and will never be a marshall, boogie, fender, hiwatt, orange. even a broken marshall etc. is worth more than a peavey. maybe some country western dude will buy it off you. - Wed, 26 Mar 2003 12:40pm

meathead | The fact she can afford any amp she wants and she chooses a little solid state transtube amp is a little impressive. I tried to blow one up, I got a pignose instead. - Thu, 27 Mar 2003 11:27pm
meathead | I taped an old wireless transmitter/reciever and dropped it off a 10 story building while playing through it the whole way down. And recorded the impact and used it on a song intro. Im very resourceful with bad gear.... - Thu, 27 Mar 2003 11:28pm
