Jay User Info... | I'm looking for a good Fender Strat. Do you have one that is being neglected and needs a good home? Any local tips to finding one? - Tue, 25 Feb 2003 9:55pm
Gleamer User Info... | step one: pick a direction step two: throw a rock result: you'll hit one - Tue, 25 Feb 2003 11:35pm
Jay User Info... | Okay...so now that I've hit one with a rock...tell me how to get its owner to sell it to me. - Wed, 26 Feb 2003 1:07am
Gleamer User Info... | I dunno, hit him? but strats aren't a lost artifact that no-one has so you'll be hard pressed to get to the end of your options. My suggestion would be to actually be more spesific, asking for a strat is so broad that many people with different types won't respond. but I'm just bored so don't mind me. - Wed, 26 Feb 2003 1:08am
Jay User Info... | I've been narrow-minded when looking, shopping only for an American Strat. Should I be looking at Made in Mexico Fenders too? - Thu, 27 Feb 2003 9:11am
Joey | If you're looking for a GOOD Strat, stick to the US or Japanese - some of the Japanese ones are actually better than some US models ! Try the Island Buy & Sell. Shy away from the 3-bolt-holding-the-neck-on models if you can - or at least don't pay as much for one. - Thu, 27 Feb 2003 2:25pm
Ian McG User Info... | Stay away from the Mexi-strats, they used green wood with a lot of them, so they start out fine, but a few months down the road...warped neck. - Thu, 27 Feb 2003 4:05pm
colin User Info... | WHERE DID YOU HERE THAT GREEN WOOD THING? I HAVE BEEN TO BOTH THE USA AND THE MEXICAN FACTORY AND CAN GUARANTEE THAT THE GREEN WOOD ISSUE HE TALKS ABOUT IS NOT THE CASE. THEY ACTUALLY PRE CUT THE NECKS AT THE USA FACTORY FOR BOTH THE AMERICAN AND MEXICAN MARKET, THEY DONT DO THE SHAPING OR FRETTING,SO THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS HOW THEY ARE FINISHED, THEY USE A SMALLER FRET IN MEXICO. IF you CAN AFFORD IT GO WITH AN AMERICAN ONE, THEY USE BIGGER FRETS AND BETTER TUNING HEADS. - Thu, 27 Feb 2003 4:42pm
Ian McG User Info... | Oh..I stand corrected, never having been to the factories. Everyone I know who' s owned a Mexican one though, the neck has ended up warping, that was the explanation I was given. I' ll take your word for it though, so everyone ignore my last comment - Thu, 27 Feb 2003 5:47pm
colin User Info... | if your neck warps fender will replace it, they have a lifetime warranty on them. Usually most people confuse neck warping with to much relief on the truss rod. - Thu, 27 Feb 2003 10:37pm
kevin | hey jay i have a friend that might be interested in selling his. - Sat, 1 Mar 2003 7:51pm
Jay User Info... | Kevin...if your friend is looking to sell, I'm interested in hearing about it. Let me know... - Sun, 2 Mar 2003 12:28pm
Jedi | I can re-fret a strat with jumbo wire if you want to pay 250-300 dollars. This would also include full set-up for your style and strings used. I have a couple on hand that I recently did. - Sun, 2 Mar 2003 1:57pm
kenny | hey I have a mixi-strat and I'v had it for about 7 years and it's still mint, the mexican made ones are really good. Anyone that tells you otherwise doesn't have one or mistreats it. and to be honest I was thinking about moving to a gibson. what were you looking to spend? - Mon, 3 Mar 2003 4:06am
Manimal User Info... | I have an 86 japanese strat, black and white with floyd rose. I might sell it if you're still looking. - Tue, 4 Mar 2003 3:32pm
