Mr. Hell User Info... | Tsk, tsk. You should ALWAYS buy new strings for EVERY show! If you don't and you break a string, I will be there in front laughing at you. - Sun, 15 Dec 2002 8:50pm
? | since we are way off topic anyways. if you buy new strings before a show you will be tuning every second song. that is if you can hear you went out of tune. buy them days before and break them in a litte. i've broke way more new strings than old. p.s. wedge the floyd rose in a locked postion with a peice of wood. - Mon, 16 Dec 2002 7:58pm
Geetar Slinga | If you have a good floating trem and locking nuts you can easily tune up hours before a show. Just crank on your strings a few times then loosen em off, tighten up, fine tune and off ya go. Thats the whole purpose of a good FLoyd Rose that is configured properly for your gauge of strings. - Tue, 17 Dec 2002 2:11am
ROSS B AY User Info... | Again in English. - Tue, 17 Dec 2002 6:39pm
Mr. Hell User Info... | I put on my bass strings a few hours before at a higher tuning and let them sit, then at soundcheck or before we go on I plug into the tuner and work them for a minute. Haven't had a problem yet. Of course guitars are a different deal, but as geetar slinga said, learn how to use your hardware! It's there for a reason. And by new strings I meant not month old strings. And if you are breaking new strings, you need to either stop playing with a hack saw or stop using dental floss for strings. - Tue, 17 Dec 2002 6:54pm
Wolfgang | i usually change strings the day before the show. then play em till they stay in tune. But thats a les paul. A Floyd rose is a different story. I wanna know if there is a website that has instructions for setting up floyd roses (intonation/action/tension etc) The guy i pay to set up my ibanez can't get it right and i'm sick of paying him. - Tue, 17 Dec 2002 8:49pm
ROSS B AY User Info... | Day before the show? My ass you stinking liar, we've been in a band for 10 months or something and I've never, ever in that whole time once ever seen or heard of you changing a single string unless it's broken. Your guitar sits in the corner of my basement for fuck's sakes you filthy deceiver. Besides, we can't afford new strings or anything. We've been using the same pair of broken stickss for 3 weeks and we use my pair of pliars to tune drums. We taped the last mic together, I duct taped my strap and input back on my bass, we sing through an ols shitty bass amp and one of our guitars goes through my old bass speaker. Yeah we're gear nerds. - Tue, 17 Dec 2002 10:03pm
Mr. Hell User Info... | You guys should play a gear Fundraiser for yourselves. And shit...guitar strings are like $6 a pack for good ones. Bass strings are at least $30 for a decent set, so your bass player has an excuse. - Tue, 17 Dec 2002 10:14pm
Wolfgangbang XIII | before every show! -unless they're a week apart or sumpin. - Tue, 17 Dec 2002 10:49pm
Mr. Hell User Info... | Well I figured that was a given. - Tue, 17 Dec 2002 11:30pm
ROSS B AY User Info... | Shit we play once every 3 months, and we jam even less. There's dry rot in his guitar neck. 6 bux? Shit, what are we millionaires? Geez.......... - Wed, 18 Dec 2002 12:01am
Action Jackson | God, all the whining about flloyd rose bridges is driving me nuts. I don't know how to play properly but if you go to the Jackson website, all the instructions WITH pictures are there, including a picture of the tools to use, not including your head. - Thu, 19 Dec 2002 11:19am
Geetar Slinga | FIRST OF ALL. Use the SAME strings all the time. Buy whatever gauge you want to go with. String up the axe. leave all the locking nuts undone. Tune it quick. Lock em down. Fine tune. Now look at the level of the tremolo. Is it floating level to the body? if not, pop off the back plate, get yer phil-lips screwdriver ( not the drink you idiot ) and crank your tremolo screw until the trem is level with the body. Now pop your locking nuts one by one and tune ahgain. Check the level. Readjust the screw as neccesary. You may have to go through this a few times before you are both in tune AND the trem sits level. Now you have it. Use the same brand, same guage everytime, and next time you can either pop all the oldies off first then replace em all, or one by one, it doesnt matter, if the geeetar is in tune the trem will float level. VOILA. Your Ibanez wont go out of tune again, trust me I play one! If your neck is twisted you are shit outta luck, buy a new axe. - Thu, 19 Dec 2002 6:22pm
Wolfgang | what about intonation? and string tension? - Thu, 19 Dec 2002 7:41pm
Geetar Slinga | Well on my Ibanez the intonation is set by adjusting the allen head screws which are located in a very inconvenient spot.. under the strings just after they come out of the vice. Its a royal pain in the ass to set, but once done it should remain set until the end of time. Or at least a few dozen months. - Fri, 20 Dec 2002 2:35am
another jackson player | I wedged a shim in behind my floyd so it wouldnt float ..this jackson I have stays in tune and playes greAt. - Fri, 20 Dec 2002 11:52pm
Geetar Slinga | Shims are for people that cant figure out how to setup the Floyd properly. Seen it a zillion times, always with a similar excuse "Floyds suck.." In reality they kick ass, just gotta do it right.. takes a brain I know.. took me at least 3 tunings to figure out mine. - Sun, 22 Dec 2002 3:17pm
