Mica User Info... | I'm buying a Morgan acoustic and I'm super stoked about it, but to buy the Morgan I have to sell one of my electrics, which I'm not super stoked about. I'll be putting it up on ebay before long, but I thought I'd give some Local folk a shot at it first. It is a 1986 Ibanez Artist "Super Edition" in fabulous condition. The body is double cutaway Mahogany with a dark finish. The bound flamed maple top has a Tobacco burst finish. Dual humbuckers with phase switches (sorry if this is the wrong term) that allow you to switch the humbuckers to single coils. Gold hardware, mahogany neck, ebony fretboard with mother of pearl inlay, Indian rosewood on headstock with mother of pearl Ibanez logo. The pickup selector switch is even crafted in Indian Rosewood. It has two chips on the body, one by the top strap button and the other by the bottom strap button. Other than that, it is mint. It is truly a beautiful and very rare guitar - the workmanship is first rate. I will be borrowing a friend's digital camera on Thursday to take some photos and I'll make them available online for anyone who wants to look. I'll give it a few days here and then I'll throw it up on ebay with a reserve price of $900 CAD. So, if you can match that, it's your's. I recently had it set up (frets dressed, electronics checked and basic setup) by Dave Pellow. You can email me with questions PS: I ALREADY HAVE A BIKE - Mon, 1 Mar 2004 2:41pm
[+} User Info... | those morgan guitars look sweet. how do they sound/feel in real life? - Mon, 1 Mar 2004 8:18pm
Mica User Info... | I've only ever played the guitars in-store and I have always been really impressed with the sound and the aesthtics of them. I have been looking for a nice OM shape acoustic for a while. The Morgan guitars cost astro bucks and I'm not sure the quality justifies the retail cost. The one I bought is used (built in 96') and I got it for just under $1500. I emailed Morgan to verify the serial number and David Iannone got back to me right away. He verified the woods, the model, the date construction began and said that the current retail value is $3900. Would I pay $3900? If I had buckets of money to throw around then yeah, I would because the sound of the guitar is amazing to my ears. I tried the Larivee and Martin models as well and they sounded good, but the Morgan's tone really just stuck in my head. As always though, tonal quailty is totally subjective and I don't think it can be determined by cost, manufacturing standards, build reputation etc. For example, my Dad has a Yamaki Dreadnaught from the early seventies that sounds incredible, with tone on par with, if not better than, most of the new hign end Dreadnaughts I have played over the last few years. The thing's neck has been broken and repaired, a couple of the upper frets buzz and it looks like a piece of shit, but the thing just shines when its played. - Tue, 2 Mar 2004 11:10am
colin User Info... | I am interested in buying your ibanez- for 800$ - Tue, 2 Mar 2004 11:37am
Pierce User Info... | I tried out this guitar a few months back. Aside form the strap keys having dings around them, things are fine. If you want a superb UNIQUE (one of a kind) guitar, this is the one for you. To me, it felt like a thinner Les Paul. I was on my way to pay 1000$ (strat trade-in)for it, but it wasnt enough metal for me. - Tue, 2 Mar 2004 11:49am
Mica User Info... | Sorry, $900 is the bottom line - I won't part with it for less. - Tue, 2 Mar 2004 11:52am
Ike User Info... | Thanks for the note Pierce. Incidentally, I ended up going with a G&L Asat "Special" over the Strat. Did you get rid of it yet? - Tue, 2 Mar 2004 11:53am
Pierce User Info... | Yeah, sold it for 950$. Took a loss but its all good! Took the cash and bought another Jackson. All my electrics, and one of my bass's are jacksons now. - Tue, 2 Mar 2004 12:41pm
