Anaki_Muon User Info... | At first glance it seems like Victoria has a pretty pathetic electronic music community and... oh wait, maybe it does. Anyhow, I've met a couple cool people acquiring new gear and it's got me wondering if anyone who visits this board makes any acid techno, IDM or ambient? You know-- the forgotten genres of electronic music. lol - Sat, 26 Apr 2008 9:40am
Aidan Logins User Info... | I do! Lots of fun. But it's really just a backburner solo project for me and I haven't had time to get into it lately. Victoria has a lot of people who make said music, but not a lot who are serious musicians and try to do anything with it. So you never hear about it. I miss having Pema Douma around town... - Tue, 29 Apr 2008 2:10pm
Selidor User Info... | Ja, I tend to keep my work anonymous (for reasons that really don't matter here) but I am trying to do something with it. Have you got anything online? I think I'm wanting to hear some local stuff roughly in those genres... hear some of what others are doing here. EDIT: I'm Anaki_Muon. I decided to change my user name... sometime ago actually... and I thought it didn't take, until now I guess. - Wed, 30 Apr 2008 9:49pm Edited: Wed, 30 Apr 2008 9:50pm
Selidor User Info... | PS: Who's Pema Douma? - Wed, 30 Apr 2008 9:56pm
Aidan Logins User Info... | I don't really have anything online that's in those specific genres... I have some electronic stuff on myspace. I can post some more idm type stuff later or send you some. I never really do anything with it because I can't play it live. Other electronic tunes on http://www.myspace.com/plumbdumbpyro Pema Douma is also known as Dorian Douma and also A Great White Bird. He's gone to Ontario or something like that. http://www.myspace.com/agreatwhitebird . there's also some older tunes on LiveVictoria. - Wed, 30 Apr 2008 10:21pm
KnifeGhost User Info... | Pema's in Toronto, sounds like he's having a great time. I have a few friends who are into the idea of producing dancey electronic, but It hink nobody really knows how to go about it. - Thu, 1 May 2008 11:39pm
Zedius User Info... | I play electronic instruments, but I'm not really into electronic music. At least, I haven't really heard much acid techno, ambient, or IDM that I've been into. Is venetian snares IDM? I like that quite a bit. I like slagsmalsklubben, and they might be electronic music, but not repetetive like most "electronic music" that I've heard. I'd be curious to know what sort of stuff people are doing, though I think if it's too limited to specific genres like this then it's unlikely there could be any overlap. It's a pretty small town :) - Fri, 2 May 2008 11:30am
whbit User Info... | Our drummer's other band Ace Kinkaid has been known to drop a few tunes that get categorized with these words. Check em' out: http://www.myspace.com/acekinkaid - Fri, 16 May 2008 9:00am
Selidor User Info... | I'm not sure I'd consider Ace Kincaid in those genres in teh slightest-- but that's okay, because those tracks were pretty snazzy. Good stuff from you too Aidan. And me? I just became the proud owner of x0xb0x #357 on Sunday. :P - Mon, 26 May 2008 10:12pm
slik User Info... | I've released a bunch of techno & acid over the years....most of my records are sold out tho. Last year or so I've gone away from it, been into other things. I used to have a huge analog synth collection, pared it sown a bunch lately, but still have some pieces - Sat, 5 Jul 2008 9:54pm
Selidor User Info... | "Still have some pieces" eh? If you're thinking about letting anything go fire me off an e-mail with what you've got and what you want for it. - Sat, 12 Jul 2008 4:47pm
