CiTR Radio proudly presents:

A Night of World Beat Music!

Thursday 14 June 2007

@ Anza Club

On Thursday 14 June 2007, CiTR Radio will be hosting a night of world beat music featuring - Pendomoja, Santa Lucia and Ezeadi at the Anza Club in Vancouver. The presentation is part of a National Campus Community Radio Conference (NCRC) showcase featuring Vancouver's finest artists.

The NCRC, scheduled for June 11th to 16th 2007, is an annual gathering of hundreds of community-oriented radio broadcasters and industry stakeholders from across Canada.

Join radio broadcasters from across Canada as we feature some of the best Latin, reggae and African performers that Vancouver has to offer. One night only! Not to be missed!

About the Artists:
Pendomoja is a versatile, skilled, and hard-hitting 7-piece band based in Richmond B.C.They play an huge variety of tunes - Reggae, Rock, Soca, Funk, Blues, and original African music. This band, now four years old, boasts tight three part vocals, superb soloing, a three-piece horn section, and a lot of soul. No matter if you're dancing or listening to Pendomoja, the bottom line is for good times all around.

Santa Lucia is a seven-piece member band that has created an exciting sound that evokes the early days of Latin Funk (Santana, War, Chakachas etc.) while adding their own blend of funk and rock. This band overwhelms the stage with monstrous horns and bass, polyrhythmic beats, funky breaks, and furious lyrics in English and Spanish. A fun, infectious and downright groovy band, Santa Lucia's music ventures off to a lot of different areas with an addictive combination of Nuyorican boogaloo, West Coast style funk and the ever present Cuban grooves.

Ezeadi is a Vancouver based performer who is regarded as an innovator, motivator and instigator in the African/World music scene. Ezeadis music, based on traditional Igbo rhythms, evokes the spirit of highlife and afrobeat with a splash of funk, jazz, blues and reggae. As Tom Harrison of the Province wrote, ..."uses gentle African rhythms and bubbling vocals to deliver peaceful idealism emphatically. It is new kind of African roots based world music cooked and ready to be served to the world from British Columbia".

Tickets: $7 at Scratch, Zulu, Red Cat and Highlife
