Dr. Fuse User Info... | Victoria Composer Finalist in CBC's Remix the Ring Competition Victoria-based composer and producer Kenji Fuse was announced Friday as one of the ten finalists in CBC Radio's 'Remix the Ring' Competition. Fuse receives a $250 award, plus he is a contender for the $750 Grand Prize, awarded to the remix receiving the most listener votes between Sept. 5 until Sept. 13. Fuse has produced albums for Veronica Tangent which have reached No. 1 on many Canadian college radio charts. The track "Little Miss Dominica" was short-listed for the CBC's Big Break Competition in 2002, and received a broadcast on Definitely Not the Opera. His compositions and songs have been performed by the Victoria Symphony, Martin Hackleman, the Rubber Soul Orchestra, HUGE, the Strung Out Electric String Quartet, Black Pearl, and the VIF Contemporary Ensemble. The Remix the Ring Competition is part of the CBC's celebration of the Canadian Opera Company's Ring of the Nubelung cycle by Richard Wagner. The ten winning remixes will be used as promotional material for this historic production, a first in Canada. Fuse's remix is called 'The Drowning of Siegfried'. His better remix, 'Smells Like a Burning Bush', proved too risqui for our conservative national broadcaster, but shall soon be posted for listening at: http://www.pej.org To listen to Fuse's remix and vote, go to http://cbc.ca/remixthering. One vote per listener, per day. Help put Victoria on the CBC's map! - Tue, 5 Sep 2006 4:28pm | ||
