Lazy Gun User Info... | Why don't you get your facts straight before you post this kind of trash dude? First of all as a serving member of the CF, our mission is NOT WAR. Our mission in Afganinstan is to provide stability and safety to its citizens that have been devestated by the Taliban. If you have been there and know different than I would love to hear it. If you have seen what we actually do there to help the people maybe you would have a different opinion man. We are basically cleaning up a mess that probably should'nt exist but unfortunately we don't live in the perfect rose coloured world you do. Someone has to do this job....just because bullets start flying and some of our boys (and girls) start coming home in boxes it doesn't mean that we run with our tails between our legs....how cowardly is that. You start helping a country...YOU FINISH THE FUCKIN JOB. I have rather come to expect backlash from the idealist youth of our country who know shit of its history and nothing of what it means to be PROUD. What it means to help someone accross the globe who lives in squalor and filth, to help restore peace, and all in the process potentially lose some of your best friends for the cause......only to come home to listen to garbage like this! Stereotype us all you want....just because we are in the military doesn't mean we march around everywhere hoping to pull a trigger....put yourselves in our boots for one second if you could....although I HIGHLY DOUBT you have the parts for that, its more convient and safe to spit out your down with the government rants and conspiracy theories isnt it? http://www.canada-afghanistan.gc.ca/menu-en.asp - Sat, 17 Jun 2006 4:39pm Edited: Sat, 17 Jun 2006 4:50pm
moron User Info... | What I would love to see an explanation of is how what you (or "we" as Canada) are doing in Afghanistan is different than what the British and US forces have been up to in Iraq and Afghanistan? I am aware of any number of attrocities committed by western forces (Faluja, Ramadi, Abu Graib, mass killings in Afghanistan of prisoners, etc.) but so far no remotely decent explanation of what we are doing in Afghanistan or why we are even there at all. No one doubts (except for idiots) that the situation soldiers are in is both extremely difficult and beyond trying on the psyche. That said, soldiers are volunteers and it is hard reconcile words like yours with the hundreds of thousands of deaths and spiralling situation in the region. At this point it seems like "our" job is one of protecting pipelines and related infrastructure in the region, not one of helping the local population. I would appreciate an explanation if you have one as it is difficult to make much sense of what Canada's military is exactly doing. If we are providing support to the US for their misadventure then we should be having no part of it. Cheers - Mon, 19 Jun 2006 4:13pm
