Lordpatch User Info... | A Letter to Canadian PM Stephen Harper By Ismail Zayid, About his Outrageous Statement, Justifying Israeli war crimes in Gaza and Lebanon July 19, 2006 http://www.uruknet.info/?p=m24793&l=i&size=1&hd=0 The Right Hon. Mr. Stephen Harper Prime Minister. Dear Mr. Harper: We are shocked to hear of your outrageous statement, condoning and justifying Israeli war crimes in Gaza and Lebanon. Israeli bombing of the Beirut International Airport, the destruction of roads and bridges, the demolition of power stations, denying electricity and water to millions of people and hospitals, the imposed siege by sea, air and land on Lebanon and the murder, to this date, of more than a 100 innocent civilians, men, women and children, are war crimes that cannot be condoned by any member of the international community. Your description of these actions, as "a measured response", is a challenge and an insult to the English language. Israeli crimes in Gaza and the West Bank have been ongoing long before the Israeli soldier was captured in a military action on June 25. There are over 10,000 Palestinians and Lebanese held in Israeli prisons, without charge or trial. Israel is in illegal occupation of Palestinian, Syrian and Lebanese territory for over 39 years, in defiance of international law and repeated Security Council resolutions. international law and the UN Charter entitles people under foreign occupation to resist such occupation, with all means in their power. Israeli practices throughout this lengthy occupation have included extrajudicial assassination, holding of thousands without charge or trial, torture, daily humiliation at check points, denial of health care, demolition of thousands of homes and expropriation of territory for the creation of illegal settlements. These practices are in violation virtually every article of the Fourth Geneva Convention, and have been condemned by all international human rights bodies, including Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and Israeli human rights action group, B'Tselem. Such violations are defined as war crimes by international law. Article One of the Convention calls on all High Contracting Parties, including Canada, to take action against any state that violates any article in the Convention. We have always held with pride the claim that Canada upholds international law and the UN Charter. Thus, we find your statements on this critical crisis, that threatens peace in Middle East and world peace, are in violation of this spirit. Thus, we are calling on you and all our political leaders to uphold Canada's reputation and condemn Israeli actions and bring to an end its illegal occupation of all Palestinian, Syrian and Lebanese land, in compliance with international law. Sincerely, Ismail Zayid, MD. President, Canada Palestine Association, P.O.Box, 1085 Halifax, NS. B3J 2X1 [email protected] - Thu, 20 Jul 2006 5:53am
NOISE NOT BOMBS User Info... | "speak truth to the people not the power." Noam Chomsky whats the point in telling people who don't care shit they already know? Seriouse, they know this already, and they also know you probably did not vote for em, nor will you ever, and so they don't much give a fuck what you think... Chomsky exsplained that the people in power already know the truth, thats why they are in power, so you can waste your time with letters that will not be read to peopl who do not care, I figure there has to be some thing more effective we could be doing... - Thu, 20 Jul 2006 12:31pm
jackass User Info... | I'm all for shipping Harper over to Lebanon or Palestine for an extended vacation. I'd even pitch in some cash. - Thu, 20 Jul 2006 12:48pm
_Griphin_ User Info... | Our PM banned the press, so what makes you think he'll read a letter?!? - Thu, 20 Jul 2006 2:00pm
Mofo User Info... | The job of Foreign affairs/Policy in situations as these is not to dichotomize a history as lenghty and complex as the Middle easts, and take sides based upon who started what and when hundreds of years ago. The precipitating event(s) in this (key word) THIS particular standoff and resulting conflict, is the direct actions taken by Hezbollah. End of story. Be it not for these actions it is almost certain that this conflict would not have erupted to this extent. The perpetuation of this conflict is also a DIRECT RESULT of Hezbollahs decision to keep the Isreali soldiers held hostage. It is well within their (Hezbollah's) power to release these soldiers and hopefully diffuse a situation that is quickly escalating to a point of no return. So, I do not think it was inappropriate for Mr.Harper to condone their behaviour with respect to this particular conflict...its his job to have a position, like it or not. If country A attacks country B then I would side with country B as well. Regardless of the past. That being said, it is the victims who really suffer through this, and I sincerely hope the best for them. - Thu, 20 Jul 2006 2:39pm Edited: Thu, 20 Jul 2006 2:54pm
Mr. Hell User Info... | Get ready for a Canadian 9/11. That fucking fruitcake born-again PM is aligning us with that other fucking retard from the south and it's just a matter of time until the US haters come after the allies in full force. Someone should snipe that fucker. - Thu, 20 Jul 2006 4:25pm
NOISE NOT BOMBS User Info... | hey mofo, remeber that what Hezbollahs did was in retaliation for many thing, years of oppression, so in that case they are just fighting back... either way we should have stayed neutral... No we will pay th consequenses... Can some one fucking nail Harper with a sponsorhit scandle or give him a gummer so we can get the fucker thown out already??? Where are all the Joh Hinkley Jr. wannabe's when you need them??? - Thu, 20 Jul 2006 5:23pm
Mofo User Info... | NOISE, while I certainly agree that Hezbollah are acting as they are as a direct result of the history between them and Isreal, (I believe I made that distinction) in this instance they are 100 percent to blame. There was beginning to be some shed of hope in that area for peace...not a lot but it was doing fairly well. So long as these two religions live, they will be at war, neither of them is right nor is either JUSTIFIED. When children and innocents (Jewish or Muslim) are being killed all in the name of a God, you have to question the validity of the fight you are fighting. Also for such a name as NOISE NOT BOMBS one would believe that you were a peaceful type, not the type that would advocate killing the PM just because you disagree with his foreign policy. So you don't like BOMBS but BULLETS are just fine with you, so long as you're at the trigger, right? PS I loved your little comment on a previous post about "anyone who joins the military should be shot"...that was really cute, oh so mature and peaceful sounding from a guy who implies that he hates violence. As to the statement about being ready for a "Canadian 911" we were already on that shitlist dude, if you know anything about history you will know that the British Empire was not in the Middle Easts' good books after WW2. We are in the western world and therefore we're on the shit list by default. Canada has and always have had enemies so to speak, Harper is not the first to make one for us. - Thu, 20 Jul 2006 5:42pm Edited: Thu, 20 Jul 2006 6:00pm
NOISE NOT BOMBS User Info... | again as stated in the other thread, it was my morbid sense of humor and misunderstood attempt at being funny... I don't want the PM to be shot, It would only lead to more violence in reality, I understand this, but it makes a good joke... Have you seen the poster yet for the self rule show? as for the die over religion shit, people don't want war, they are tricked into it, religion is one of the tools governments to pull citazens into killing each other. This dispute is mainly over ecconomic and political power. If isreal was not being backed by the usa, they would likly not be occupieing right now... Why dose the usa support isreal war crimes? It has to do with what would happen in the middle east if the usa left, the oil... The usa dose not want the oil, rather needs to have control over it, not even access, control. Controling the oil gives them an ecconomic weapon against countrys like China, who is not afraid of the usa and dose not right now have to listen to them... But if the usa has controle over world resources forcing the giant into submition is easy... sorry bout the spelling, I have no spell check on this pc, can not access hotmail, and I cunt spell - Fri, 21 Jul 2006 12:44am

Mace User Info... | Let me just rephrase what I just posted there, so it doesn't come off like I'm sounding like a racist here, to clarify that the Jewish Family in control of the opposition who controls the Liberal Party like puppets in pork grinder, is that these loud mouths are the most fucking disappointing and annoying asshole, that fuck with the elections process, that fuck with the facts, bend the economic factoria on statistics and constantly lie out-right to the CDN. public on a daily basis. I think the news paper, I'm talking about is 'The Globe and Mail'. - Fri, 21 Jul 2006 11:30am
Brumy User Info... | I say lets let them kill eachother off, and then deal with who ever is left. Fuck the middle east and their bullshit. Nuke em all - Fri, 21 Jul 2006 11:31am
sirplanes User Info... | "Fuck the middle east and their bullshit. Nuke em all" What a sentiment. Too bad you're not PM. The thing with the middle eastern countries involved in the current conflict is that I don't think you can 100% assign blame to one. Each one of those countries has had its share of destruction, terrorism, international pressure, and violations of civil rights. Each one of those countries has fight that they believe in.. some are aimed towards peace and some are aimed towards retribution, which they think they deserve. If your family was executed, would you pick up a rifle as well? Or would you avoid the cycle? People in the middle east aren't robots.. they're not blood thirsty, and they don't crave to kill more than any gun-toting westerner. I think that the conflict that has been going on in the middle east is the responsibility of each country involved.. including the US, Canada, and Britain. Everyone has a fight. - Fri, 21 Jul 2006 4:14pm
Mr. Hell User Info... | Yes, we were on it already. I am aware of that. However, having Harper gobbling Bush's weenus is just going to speed up the process. I just ripped through John Perkin's Economic Hit Man book, and it's a good read. Really, it just reinforces all the things that have lead to this problem. The US is to blame for most of the problems that are arising. I'm no university student, but I know that the Bush family have accelerated the foriegn hatred factor by leaps and bounds. - Fri, 21 Jul 2006 4:57pm Edited: Fri, 21 Jul 2006 5:01pm
Mofo User Info... | sirplanes....fuckin well said man, well said. Its (this conflict) not that much unlike any conflict where history and culture clash...and least we forget economies. I FIRMLY believe that within each human there lies the ability to kill given the right (or wrong) provocation depending on how you see it. Its an unfortunate FACT that humanity will always find a reason to pillage the villageside (kinda like TROGDOR but worse)......and in saying that I am gonna have a (or ten) cold frosty one(s) cause this planet sucks.... Happy Friday fuckin night everyone...give peace a chance! - Fri, 21 Jul 2006 9:51pm Edited: Fri, 21 Jul 2006 9:53pm

Mace User Info... | Keep taxing us to death. The majority of citizens in this Country are mindwashed, by,(or have been mindwashed by canadian/jewish mega-conglomerate) Global/Canwest and its subsidaries there-of. FYI- Griphin, the PM doesn't censor the press. He declined to attend a media press gallery dinner as a protest against them, [I don't blame him] then the press turns around and says the PM censored them. Because they (the press junkets) are literally, a cruel and sick joke below the regular 'media framing' of 'insestual ratings' and 'polictical rankings.' Where does it stop.......... (I really hope it keeps going because Pigs are creatures to, and tasty, and how..!) I think Stephen Harper is a respectable person and better than many think, I think, that if it were Harper to blame for the M.E. trouble? Harper didn't kidnap the 2 missing and presumed dead Israeli soldiers. So far as what I've read and seen on the news- I can't bring myself to justifyingly blaming the PM of Canada. The question... What's Harper going to do to stop it? What's the rest of the world going to do, to stop it? You know, there was a Canadian Soldier killed in Haiti a few months back, the Liberal Party had sent Troops to Haiti, yet the Soldier who was killed had other UN personal around him, that couldn't understand a goddamn word of English and posed for picture in front of this Canadian Soldier while he lay dying and not doing a single thing to help him. In a Hunter Trophy pose. http://www.toromagazine.ca/0606/haiti/index.html - Sat, 22 Jul 2006 12:49pm

E Ozzmond User Info... | Stephen Harper is a puppet toeing the line of U.S foreign policy that aims to create an unstable Middle East. An unstable Middle East means easy control of Middle Eastern resources (OIL). Unfortunately, as we sit back and debate these things in the comfort of our homes, innocent families are getting the shit bombed out of them. We may think of it as a Middle Eastern problem, but it could also be viewed as the beginning of World War 3 that will eventually affect us all. - Sun, 23 Jul 2006 1:51am Edited: Sun, 23 Jul 2006 1:53am

NOISE NOT BOMBS User Info... | so whats the solution? I can see things that would work but I can not affect them, such as if soldiers were to refuse to fight, or unions would rise up and call for general strike in oposistion to the troops being sent over... But what is there that we can do to stop this? - Tue, 25 Jul 2006 12:33pm
