...the RCMP-led anti-terrorism task force moved in for the arrests…. At a news conference yesterday morning, the RCMP displayed a sample of ammonium nitrate and a crude cell phone detonator they say was seized in the massive police sweep when the 17 were taken into custody. However, they made no mention of the police force’s involvement in the sale.” Of course not. Because the entire affair is little more than a dog and pony show designed to convince Canadians local Muslims pose a threat to the country...

Ya there's been no mention on specifically whether this operation was a sting in the traditional sense. When police incite crime with such operations one has to take a hard look at whose guilty.

You might be right, but I think they just wanted to show-off to the world that Canada is sophisticated enough to catch and arrest terrorists. (Just like our limey ancestors)

Muslims are being portrayed as the new boogey-man for sure, but somehow I think the RCMP may not have thought that deeply into it. - Mon, 5 Jun 2006 6:53pm

So because the cops found out what they were planning and sold them the fertilizer for the explosives that means they were set up? That's like saying an undercover cop that buys a gun off a bad guy is setting him up... idiot. That is the stupidest thing I have heard all day. Typical conspiracy theory bullshit, how about just stop thinking the government is always the bad guy and admitting that sometimes somebody else is the bad guy instead. How about you just be glad the cops found out about it cause if these guys had of been a bit smarter and gotten the explosives elsewhere the CN tower and a few other places would be gone pretty soon, and I like the way the CN tower looks when I am driving into Toronto. - Mon, 5 Jun 2006 9:41pm Edited: Mon, 5 Jun 2006 9:42pm

Jay, could'nt agree with you more. Same old conspiracy bullshit theory!
CSIS, RCMP and DND are there to protect you and while they may not always be right, I will sleep a little bit sounder knowing that they are at least attempting to do they're job by stopping suspects of blowing up a few thousand of my fellow Canadians.
I am sure Lordpatch would have a much different opinion if it was revealed that one of these guys was his neighbour and his first target was Lordpatches house. But then again, I am sure Lordpatch would whistfully jump to his neighbours defence and accuse the government of hate spreading.

As far as the government and police setting up this shindig? Come on get a grip! We live in Canada dude and if you think its so totalitarian why are you still here? If you think its SOOOOOO Oppresive get out! Go to Afganisitan or Iraq and see how accepting they will be of your views, colour and religion there buddy.
No offence Lordpatch, but not everything you read is a steamy pile of horse shit being shoved down your throat by a government with a racist alterior motive and a ploy at keeping the people down....whatever tree your hugging is sure as fuck blocking your view of reality. - Tue, 6 Jun 2006 3:26pm
