Instrument of Karma User Info... | Is there a glossary of terms for the music industry? I've heard talk about "grunge-core, grind-core,this-core,that-core,emo,indy,and a load of other stuff that makes little sense on first glance. I understand indy means independent, but is this a style of music, i mean, are there people out there that will buy albums based on whether or not they are signed (yet) or not? And excuse the clueless, but why the need to dissect hard-core so completely? Just wondering. - Sun, 1 Feb 2004 8:56am
Demen Ted User Info... | Alternative: This must be the worst fucking genre name ever. If its "alternative" that SHOULD mean that it sounds different from anything else... Every alternative band sounds the same, its crap. I never got the indy thing either... - Sun, 1 Feb 2004 9:29am
stefan User Info... | I agree, all these genre's that bands get put in are crap. Most "alternative" bands dont call then selves alternative, its the people that complain about all the "alternative" bands sounding the same that are the same people that are labelling the bands "alternative".. at least thats what ive seen... anywhos.. - Sun, 1 Feb 2004 3:24pm

Instrument of Karma User Info... | How about progressive. Did Rush start this term? All these little boxes on a shelf and if you don't fit in you are an outcast but if you are an outcast at least you have a title hey then you fit in. Then there are those in the "desperately trying to fit in somewhere" category. It reminds me of the real punk rockers that hung in piss alley in the eighties bitching about all the poser kids coming in from Gordonhead and Oak Bay to slum it for a while. If you do what you do for anyone but yourself, then you are a poser. However, then you do have your very own box. - Mon, 2 Feb 2004 8:53am
