I have realized I hardly know anything about hardcore (well, metal, punk, hardcore, ska, etc.) dancing. I know and have been somwhat involved with crapy slam dancing, but I realized I don't really know any others. Yes I sound like an idiot. Oh well, I'm allowed to. Anyway, what is it called, when ya go around in a circle (with other people) punching air, and stompin around and kicken out and crap... Is that skankin? Kinda like the logo in the corner of http://www.officialcirclejerks.com/ (click the link first) Only I can't tell teh entire process from that picture... Anyways, could someone explain all the "moves" and what they're associated with... Thanks a ton, maybe someone out there will answer me, and not make fun of me, hehe...

basically skankin is not really a type of dance. when you see people in the circle like that all there doing is a kindof skip going fast while pushing everyone around you and still managing to swing your arms. so if you want to get some quick bruises or an elbow to your face then go ahead have fun. otherwise dancing is how you feel towards music and moving to it. going with the flow and looking like an idiot doing it. if it wasn't for dancing then i'd have 2 perfect knees. - Wed, 3 Sep 2003 3:03pm

OK Skankin is a type of dance, seen at Ska shows. Right knee up, swing arm, left knee up, swing arm and repeat in time to the music. Oh and it's done stationary. Thus the name SKAnkin - Wed, 3 Sep 2003 5:17pm

Cool... That would be it alright, I've also seen it done in the circles like I was saying, although a little different than the Stationary Skanking, I notice It is the same, only each beat of the song you give a little kick forward... and get goin in a skip-hop-thing. It seems to be at more skapunk shows that I see that. But yeah. What are some other types of stuff now?
