Matteus User Info... | I'm in the market for a set of nice headphones/buds that I can use for both out on the street and some mixing at home. A happy medium between the two of them would be nice. What do you use? What's the best you've used? Reccomendations? - Thu, 17 Jul 2008 12:54pm
Tyler User Info... | I don't suggest the Sony MDR-V500s, especially if you're carrying them all over the place. The earpiece holders are pretty fragile. I had a pair I was kind to and they still snapped off. AKG K 240 headphones are great to mix with. Do you mean mixing as in mixing a recording? Or do you mean mixing in a club DJ sort of way? I'm referring to the former of the two. I'm not sure how resilient they are to being carried around though. Earbuds don't really lend themselves to mixing. I have seen some more expensive ones online but I haven't ever used them. I find that the small size and tendency to shift around doesn't really lend itself to a solid, reliable, wide frequency spectrum. Then again, I've been putting some thought into this. If most consumers of a certain style of music tend to listen on their ipod earbuds, why not do some mixing and mastering on the same earbuds in order to achieve the best sound possible on them? Of course, it'd be necessary to use decent studio monitors to make sure it doesn't sound TOO horrible on them. Just kind of a thought that got triggered from something I read. That's all the help I can offer, haha, sorry for the rambling. - Fri, 18 Jul 2008 1:45am
