eric User Info... | Well hello. I have a few questions about the victoria scene that I thought many of the people here could answer. First, I'm sending this from just outside Toronto, where I unfortunately moved some 8 years ago after grade 5. I am originally from victoria and I an seriously considering coming home and bringing my band with me. I was just kind of curious how supportive the scene is out there for people who essentially know no one. My drummer's brother lives in victoria, and all the people i used to know from burnside elementary i haven't talked to for about 7 years. So, whatever anyone can tell me about the scene would be appreciated. thanx. Eric. - Mon, 5 May 2003 2:41pm
`yah | Strong scene, lots of bands, lots of fans, but a bit secluded from the planet by a straight filled with salt water. Also, alot of club support for bands here over the years, band clubs come and go, but there is usally somewhere to play.. And more recently a definate increase in All Ages shows ( again ) especially thanks to the guys who run this site, who promote alot of All Agers. Lots of young people in Victoria, strong punk, metal and hip hop scenes, as well as all the offshoots of those styles. BUT th scene here is nothing like Toronto's. TO is recognized world wide as a band mecca, most people worldwide think Victoria is a an old queen. - Mon, 5 May 2003 2:52pm
Vikky | I beg your pardon young man, we are not amused. - Mon, 5 May 2003 3:14pm
eric User Info... | thanks for the piece of information. from that it seems there is something of a good community amonst artists over there. Toronto is not as advantageous as one might assume, there are far too many garbage spewing bands with little or nothing to say trying to cash in on the sum 41 cultural explosion, or so it would seem. The decent bands around here generally get zero attention will shit like kazzer and the salads get airplay everyday. But, what are you gonna do right? One day people will wake up... - Tue, 6 May 2003 12:35pm

tunesmith | The only problem that you might run into here is, there is a serious lack of commitied, talented players with good attitudes. So replacing any of your members (should the need arise) is going to be a little harder than you might imagine. There are some great players but their hard to find. Transience is a good work for BC in general! - Wed, 7 May 2003 10:33am
tunesmith | Transience is a good "word"... - Wed, 7 May 2003 10:35am
