Message Board > General Chitchat > rechargeable 9V batteries in guitar gear |
XJAyX User Info... | Has anyone used a rechargeable 9V in their guitar or pedals etc? I hate going through so many 9V batteries, partially because of the waste, and partially because decent ones are freakin expensive. I have always been weary about using rechargeable batteries in my gear because of their slightly lower voltage, but I have always wanted to try it. has anyone one here used them successfully? I want to use them for my active pickups and my wireless set up. For pedals I just use a power supply, but I'm interested if you have used a rechargable in your pedal also. - Thu, 3 Apr 2008 12:19pm
superslacks User Info... | You'll do better if you buy 8.4V NiMH vs. standard 7.2V, but it'll still be a fair bit lower than non-rechargeables which are approx. 9.25V. Yes, it will affect the pedals, not sure about the pickups, performance, but depending on the pedal you might be able to compensate in the settings. Who knows, maybe you'll hit the right combo for your own signature sound; like an EVH variac thing . . . The other thing is, NiMH tend to need longer charge times than NiCad, so check your charger. NiMH are also more expensive, about the same as an AC adapter. Queales sells the PowerSonic NiMH type, FWIW. Or buy a flat of 9V batteries at Costco. - Thu, 3 Apr 2008 1:48pm
BBJones User Info... | You can also apparently recycle regular batteries like 9 volts now. So at least you can feel better about using them up. http://pss.gov.bc.ca/air/battery_recycling.html - Thu, 3 Apr 2008 2:42pm
