Danielle User Info... | This is a subject I feel quite passionate about. People get kittens or puppies without considering so very many things about what the responsibility is having a pet. The vet bills, the food, not being able to leave them alone forever and ever, exercising them. It is almost like having a child. They don't consider the next 10 or 15 years and whether they are stable and able to look after them for that long. What if they have to move and can't get a place that takes pets. Personally I would live in a $#%*& cardboard box in the street before I would give up my fur bearing children. You do a great service "metal queen"! Thanks - Tue, 27 Mar 2007 11:46pm
metalqueen User Info... | Thanks Danielle!....your absolutely right, people dont understand what it takes to be a pet owner. My god Ive seen it with my own eyes the people that actually care for their pet and the people that dont care.I can tell soon as they bring them in for grooming. Its pretty sad. peace! - Wed, 28 Mar 2007 12:12am
trevor corey User Info... | You're right Danielle, people often don't understand what it takes to be a responsible pet owner. I think their heart is in the right place though, to be a pet owner in the first place, and to Metalprincess, the fact that these "people that don't care" actually bring their animals in for profesional grooming says to me that they do care, they just aren't very good at it. Instead of hateing on these people and driving them into the shadows, we should try to help educate them on being better caregivers. My best advice to a potential pet owner is to have a clean credit card with at least $2000 limit, and to invest in pet insurance. Research good food, and learn about basic health care, such as ears, nails, fleas, and basic grooming (nails, teeth, and coats). My older dog is twelve. I estimate he has cost $25,000 in his lifetime. Alot of people would have given up on him, but I am stubborn, and I've always found a way. He is getting stiff in his old age so he gets a monthly cartrophine shot and a daily pain medication, he also has regular accupuncture appointments. I will do anything for him. He is a 120pound wolf hybrid, and in our twelve years together he has protected me and our home in ways I might not ever fully know. - Wed, 28 Mar 2007 1:27pm
