Here's an idea, and one which is not new and is in fact enshrined in many constitutions: Inventions and works of creative nature are ultimatley open to the betterment of humanity. Only within the last century have patents, copyrights and other intellectual property rights been completely hijacked by government/business. These new laws restrict freedoms further than anyone suspects Its ironic that laws which specifically existed to protect one thing very quickly became ammunition for an opposite purpose.
