Veteran alto saxophone master and six-time Grammy winner, David Sanborn, has played a crucial role in establishing the sound of contemporary jazz and instrumental pop. In his remarkable three and a half decade performing and recording career, he has consistently embodied the dual ideals of virtuosity and versatility, revealing a one-of-a-kind talent on his own releases while building a singularly impressive resume that includes everyone from Gil Evans to Stevie Wonder, and Steely Dan to Bruce Springsteen. His latest album released in 2008, Here and Gone, is a tribute to the music of Ray Charles and his arranger/saxophonist Hank Crawford. This album was produced by the legendary Phil Ramone, and includes special guests Eric Clapton, Russell Malone, Sam Moore and Joss Stone amongst others. David Sanborn performs with his six-member band at JazzFest International 2009.
