Chadbourne/Lovens
Chadbourne/Lovens
A meeting of two truly extraordinary improvisers. The innovative and eclectic American guitarist/composer Eugene Chadbourne has long been a highly regarded underground eccentric. Simultaneously a contemporary classical composer, a free jazz improviser, a folk musician, a rocker, and inventor of the electric rake, Chadbourne’s collaborations are numerous and include artists like Derek Bailey, Han Bennink, John Zorn, Henry Kaiser, Carla Bley, Camper van Beethoven, Jello Biafra, and others. Drummer/percussionist Paul Lovens is the ultimate collaborator who listens, colours, contributes, and occasionally directs the overall cooperative sound. He has worked internationally with most of the leading musicians in free jazz, including the Globe Unity Orchestra, the Berlin Contemporary Jazz Orchestra, the Schlippenbach Trio, Company, Quintet Moderne, and a duo with Paul Lytton. Thanks to the Goethe-Institut/Toronto.
