Sky Cries Mary and Satchel

SKY CRIES MARY: Sky Cries Mary is an American trance rock musical group from Seattle, Washington, that formed in the late 1980s.
The husband and wife team of Roderick Wolgamott Romero and Anisa Romero sing dual lead vocals. Other principal band members include Michael Cozzi (formerly of Shriekback), who produces their albums and plays guitar, Ben Ireland on drums, Juano on bass, and William Bernhard on guitar and keyboards. Recently Kent Halvorsen joined the band on keyboards. Gordon Raphael (producer for The Strokes) played keyboards until 1997.
The first album, from 1989, featured Roderick Wolgamott playing with Jon Auer and Ken Stringfellow from The Posies. The second album, released in 1990, featured the same trio, joined by Scott Mercado, Alfred Butler, Stephen Brian-Salit, Mark Ultra, Kevin McCoy and Jeff Guess. The band, after that album, reinvented itself as a septet with the the following lineup: Roderick Wolgamott and Anisa Romero, DJ Fallout aka Todd "TR" Robbins, Joseph E. Howard (aka Joe Skyward), Bennett James, Marc Olsen and Gordon Raphael. It was during this time they recorded "A Return to the Inner Experience." Mike Cozzi replaced Marc Olsen on the fifth through seventh albums. In 1994 Juano replaced Joe Howard. William Bernhard joined the band in 1998 after Michael Cozzi left to pursue other projects.
Sky Cries Mary had broken up in 1999, shortly after the release of Seeds because band members wanted to work on other projects. They regrouped in various configurations including Hana, which featured Anisa Romero, Jeff Greinke, and Ben Ireland, and No Futuro, an experimental musical project helmed by Roderick Romero, William Bernhard, and Jeremy Moss. In 2004, the band (composed of the Romeros, Ben Ireland, Juano, Michael Cozzi, and William Bernhard) regrouped after they won the rights to their music back from their old record company and subsequently released their first live album Here and Now. Two years later they followed it up with the critically acclaimed album, "Small Town."
In 2008, Sky Cries Mary's lead vocalists Roderick and Anisa Romero were featured along with Sting and Russell Simmons on Lokah's debut release, The Ivy Ceiling.

SATCHEL: Satchel is a band from Seattle, featuring Shawn Smith (vocals, piano and guitar), Regan Hagar (drums), John Hoag (guitar) and Mike Berg (bass) who replaced original bassist Cory Kane in 1995.
Satchel released two albums, EDC (1994) and The Family (1996). Most of "EDC"'s song titles were taken from the characters names in the cult classic movie "Reservoir Dogs", one of the bands favorite movies.
Originally, Satchel also had a saxophone player named Jefferson Bennett when they called themselves 'Bliss'. This was until they were met with a copyright name challenge. They relenquished the name to a 'Bliss' out of Canada thereby settling on 'Satchel' at the same time eliminating the sax all together.
In early 1995, the bassist Cory Kane was replaced by Mike Berg because of personality conflicts.
Eventually, Satchel went on hiadus. Also Shawn and Regan recorded with Brad with Stone Gossard. In 2005, Brad released an album of previously unreleased tracks from both Satchel and Brad called Brad vs. Satchel.
Satchel has their song 'Suffering' in the movies: Beautiful Girls, The Girl Next Door, and was on a One Tree Hill episode. Additionally, the song 'Walk in Freedom' can be heard in the movie Strange Days.
After 13 Year's away, SATCHEL return. Shawn Smith (VOX, PIANO & BASS) Regan Hagar (DRUMS & BASS), John Hoag (GUITARS & BASS) and with Jeff Fielder, Mike Berg & Lonnie Marshall on additional bass duties.
The new line up has recorded an album titled 'HEARTACHE & HONEY' to be released early 2010. The year 2010 has them playing their first show in ten years on February 18th at the Crocodile Cafe, Seattle. There is an exclusive stream of a new song 'The Return of...' available from their official website.
Also in 2010, Shawn's record label Sound vs Silence will release a compilation CD which includes an exclusive non-album track, 'Shoulder to Shoulder'.
