Stanley Clarke has won literally every major award available to a bass player: Grammys, Emmys, every reader’s poll out there, all critics polls- you name it. His artistry spans classical, jazz, R&B and pop idioms. Whether, solo or with Chick Corea’s Return to Forever, he has attained ‘living legend’ status during his 36-year career and JazzFest is thrilled to present him in his first appearance in Victoria. Hiromi has been heralded as one of the brightest new lights on the piano jazz landscape since Another Mind, her 2003 debut recording. Seven years and four critically acclaimed albums later, she has not only lived up to the initial praise for her early efforts but surpassed it entirely. After collaborating on Clarke’s award winning and critically acclaimed Jazz in the Garden he asked Hiromi to join the Stanley Clarke Band on her return to Victoria and JazzFest.
