VCMI Student / Faculty Showcase
The culmination of an intensive seven-day program that explores the depths of contemporary music practices, the Vancouver Creative Music Institute (VCMI) Student/Faculty Showcase brings leading international practitioners of creative music together with some of the best and brightest innovative and emerging artists. This is a rare opportunity to hear up-and-coming creative musicians engage in collaborative music-making through improvisation, new compositional techniques, and the application of new technologies. Developed by Coastal Jazz & Blues Society in partnership with the Vancouver Community College School of Music, VCMI is dedicated to furthering creative music. Artistic Director François Houle (Canada), Artists-in-Residence Barry Guy (U.K.) and Maya Homburger (Switzerland), Faculty Evan Parker (U.K.), Benoit Delbecq (France), Raymond Strid (Sweden), Ken Morrison (Canada), and Giorgio Magnanensi (Canada).
