Amon Tobin
Originally from Brazil, Amon
Tobin moved to Britain in the
mid-‘90s and soon joined the
trip-hop revolution – albeit with
more success and creativity than
most. Quickly signed by Ninja Tune, he put out several
recordings before relocating to
Montreal, which sparked his
electro-muse even more. Bringing
in elements of bossa nova,
batucada, and jungle, then
combining it with his sense of
song writing, Tobin soon was
elevated above the standards. For
his most recent album, Foley
Room, Tobin ventured forth armed
with a sound engineer and a
collection of microphones, to find
source material in pretty much
every place possible. Robotics,
animals, insects, musicians,
utensils, motorbikes and about a
thousand other things that made
interesting noises were all mic’ed
and fashioned into the tracks.
Don’t miss his debut performance
in Victoria!
