Event Description

This lecture will examine images of otherworlds as they appear in art of a secular age: the second half of the twentieth century. How do subjects such as a spirit worlds, perdition, ghosts and ancestors merge with the social and commercial preoccupations of the information age?

Artists discussed include: Haruki Murakami, Nancy Spero, Robert Gober, Kiki Smith and Bill Viola.
