I have a BMus (composition, piano) and have composed music for children's musicals (see https://hansensmythe.github.io/music.html?type=theatre) and directed musicals. I have acted in community theatre from 1990 to the present. Perhaps most notably I played Basil Fawlty in nine of the twelve Fawlty Towers shows, in productions for Workshop Theatre in Calgary in 2014 through 2017. Just before the pandemic hit, I played Rupert Giles in Once More, With Feeling (October 2019).
