Event Description
The Pablo Cardenas Modern Trio brings their mix of jazzed up classical, Brazilian, Cuban, and jazz fusion music to the first concert in the West Coast Winter Music series.
For several years, Pablo Cardenas has been working on the fusion of classical, Brazilian, Cuban, world music, jazz, and American popular styles, a blend of flavours that mix older melodies and sounds with the new tendencies of today's Jazz Fusion world. He will be accompanied by the amazing bass player Louis Rudner and drummer Kelby MacNayr.
Pablo Luis Cardenas is one of the best Cuban pianists of his generation. His versatility and high technical preparation make his music very rich and full of different influences from Afro-Cuban, Latin jazz, to fusion, modern jazz, classical and more.
He studied classical performance at the Superior Institute of Arts of Havana, Cuba. Since 2000 he has been performing in music festivals in Havana and internationally. He has lived in Canada since 2011 where he has created different music projects such as The West Coast Cuban All Stars, The Latin Jazz Combo and his Modern Jazz Trio just to mention a few. He has developed the Latin music scene in British Columbia and performed at the most important venues and festivals such as CBC, the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, the Vancouver Cuban Music Festival, Roots and Blues and many more.
Pablo Cardenas has collaborated with many accomplished musicians from the area as Ana Velinova, Phil Dwyer, Toto Berriel and many more. He is currently involved in the preparation of an album and other collaborations.
