Seriously do you expect sound like an intelligent person with the phrase "suck my DICK AND FUCKIN LIKE IT!!!!!!!!!!". What are you a fucking retard? Oh yeah that one hurts down deep. Why is it that every Korn fan i make fun of always makes a gay-joke? Are you guys that simple? A gay-joke?

Korn is like grade 8 music. It's not heavy. It's just really loud and really stupid. - Thu, 27 Nov 2003 10:42am

hahaha ok when did i say fast = heavy? i didnt. just look at Eyehategod, heavy as fuck, not really that fast. Heavy is in the atmosphere. Korn lacks atmosphere because they are talentless hacks.

i actually have a copy of some of their old stuff from back when i was 13. it was alright then...well then again i used to watch Anime and think it was cool. Guess what, i grew up. Korn is immature. Seriously. Take a look at the craft of their songs, pretty shoddy. A few one chord progressions, followed by a guy almost crying. Jesus, they act like a bunch of emo kids. You think talented bands like Iron Maiden or Cryptopsy would make an album that sounds like any of Korn's? No. They know how to actually write songs.

I guarantee there was probably like 1000 other bands that sounded similar to Korn way before they got their sorry asses a record deal with Immortal/Epic. It was just luck of the draw. Right place and the right time. Oh yeah and i'm sure thankful to Korn for creating the worst genre in music since hair metal: nu-metal. - Thu, 27 Nov 2003 5:49pm

nik nik nik...where to start
first off, if u were too lazy and tired to respond, YOU WOULDNT HAVE
let's examine the "really good" things you have said
korn is 'immature', and u make fun of his emotive vocals
well, isn't blues emotive? having the blues usually means you're sad, and blues singers talk about their pain a lot of the time (like korn does) what's wrong with that? sure as hell has more meaning than iron maiden's 'number of the beast'
and u say every korn fan responds with gay jokes? MOST people respond with gay jokes (death metal too, think about it)
oh, incidently nik, your profile is the one that say's "london is calling, and they're calling you gay"
nice one, hypocrite

so you obviously know nothing. you're still in the 13-year old frame of mind that for a song to be good, it has to be technical
shit, you arent even a big metal guy, read what u said in another post:
"isnt jazz an influence on metal? i swear Cryptopsy is totally jazz influenced. And you're right, Jazz is better than metal. Even though my heart holds a wonderful place for the metal"
JAZZ IS BETTER THAN METAL
says who?
just because it requires more skill makes it better?

That your generalization was correct, and that all metal devotees are restricted to the insult "gay"?
Could you clarify for us?

If that is indeed what you were talking about, i was just perpetuating the old metal "gay" comment stereotype, as i find stereotypes to be very funny.

Anyways, no matter how good the new album is, you guys are going to have a tough time winning us metal kids over with a band who's latest video consists of random shots of angelina jolie in the "tomb raider" movie.

My question is: is the album worth hearing?, or is it just more of the same recycled dropped bottom string nu-metal 0-1-0-1 type of riffs that the old korn spawned? - Fri, 28 Nov 2003 8:52pm

Korn = washed up and irrelevent

I mean examine their "cover", if you could call it that, of Metallica's One. Now their are a lot of conflicting Metallica opinions, but that is for another thread all together. One, in my opinion, is an amazingly written song and will remain one of my favourites. But unfortunately it was horrifically butchered by Korn.
A) John Davis whining the words to the song made it lose all meaning
B) THe unbearable CLACKS of the fucking bass
C) The fact that the show they played it on focuses the camera on David Siveria's feet to show that YES, KIDS HE IS PLAYING A DOUBLE KICK!!!! WOW HOW METAL!!!!!
D) Last of all they only play the goddamn song up until the friggin solo and then stop!!!

For a band that has been around for ten plus years, you would think they could have played the whole song.

I am bored and ranting.

cmon shawn, korn did the best job out of all the bands who covered metallica at icon.
the fact that they changed the song a bit is for the better, i think, as playing a straight cover is boring.
a)jon davis never 'whined the words' go listen to snoop dog's 'sad but true' i bet you like that one better
b)fieldy is the man
c)kind of funny how everyone is like "wow korn are so metal hahahaha" when korn themselves want to be disassociated with the genre
d)they stopped the song early to give it a different feel and to shorten it (or maybe they couldn't play the solo? nah, they probably could)

so yes, korn are washed up and irrelevant, and certaintly aren't 'wicked underground' like yourself - Sun, 30 Nov 2003 7:47am

why dont they pay us the respect we deserve as music fans and stop putting out the same old album (more or less) time and time again. Ok maybe it varies on how much whining vs. ANGRY GROWLING there is, or crappy guitar effects, or precisely planned bass clacks, or which member is going to pose for what clothing brand.

Oh and dude Fieldy is an awful bass player he just slings his bass low and slaps the shit out of it.

I hadn't actually heard any new Korn before I threw my two cents in. This thread has compelled me to subject my ears to such filth. I mean "Ya'll wanna Single say fuck this", HOW CAN YOU LITTLE FUCKS STILL TAKE THIS HORRIBLE GOD AWFUL BAND SERIOUSLY FOR CHRISTSAKES!!!!!!!!!!!! take a look in the mirror doesn't really sound like previous korn albums (still sounds like korn though)
and dude, most bands continually put out similar albums, so your comment is void
i happen to like fieldy's bass style
i like downtuned slap bass, i think it sounds cool
but i guess it's not technical enough for you
and it's y'all want a single sayfuck THAT not fuck this
THE TRACK IS ENTIRELY A JOKE (the album has way better songs)
so it's like a bunch of 14-year olds wrote the album?
certainly it's not as mature as death metal (who's artists put out the same album over and over and sing about 14-year old shit)
any arguement you throw at me can be rebounded at you shawn
and no, i don't really want to dis death metal, i'm just sick and tired of you guys thinking that you're such hot shit and everyone else sucks, when death metal is similar in 90% of the ways
kind of funny that you like metallica and not korn, because didn't korn get the tag "the metallica of the 90's?"

in all honesty, i think we're hoping too much here ,Shawn and other Nick. I mean sure, Korn is a band. They play a form of music. A buncha people like them. Matt and Hero Of The Day happen to be those type of people. Their willingness to follow Korn and defend the band as if they were their parents is uncanny, yet almost admirable. Plus Matt's many mistakes he made about certain subjects (i will not go into detail) clearly spells out that they aren't going to just suddenly think that, like us, Korn is ineffably wretched. They choose to live in a world that says "Korn, and others like them, are geniouses because they strip down music." It's a world that I walked away from long ago. Maybe they'll do the same. Then again, maybe not. I guess as long as they're happy in whatever they're doing. - Mon, 1 Dec 2003 11:05am

your mistakes:

ok, when did i say i only listen to "technical shit" I like some rap, which isn't technical. And older punk like The Misfits are good too. You chould really stop making assumptions just because my favorite bands happen to be technical.

my message about the "hitler/stalin/you/celine dion" thing wasn't even me. I saw what you wrote and was about to say something when a friend of mine whipped up that there stuff in 5 mins. I liked it so i let her put it up. I just thought it was funny as hell. I dont think you're actually as bad as hitler or stalin.

compairing Korn to blues is utterly ridiculous. I dont think people like B.B. King, Muddy Waters or any blues legend would produce an album with the caliber of a Korn release. Blues singers actually sing about things that are actually wrong, like racism, and heartbreak. They arent emo, dont even make that comparison because they weren't depressed all the time or whiny. I dont think they put out songs about men molesting them either.

the "london's calling you, and theyre calling you gay" is actually a quote from a band called Anal Cunt, theyre poking fun at The Clash. But it's not very serious, they have a song called "I Lit Your Baby On Fire" for fucksake. They are just joking with the old stereotype that metal heads all call people gay. It's also not meant to be directed toward anybody. So therefore i am no hypocrite.

when did i ever say that in order for a song to be good it has to be technical? you have to have skill in order for me to want to listen to something. as far as i've seen Korn has no skill, they play simple riffs that get quite boring after 2 seconds. anyone can drop-d a guitar and play simple groove riffs based off a blues scale as Korn does.

i also never claimed that i was a "big metal guy". I happen to listen to alot of metal but that doesnt make me a rabid militant metalhead. I listen to, as stated earlier, some rap, some old punk, classical, jazz, blues, classic rock, electronic, and some straight up rock n roll. i don't limit myself to most music, i have a problem with really boring, over-rated bands like Korn.

your quote "JAZZ IS BETTER THAN METAL
says who?
just because it requires more skill makes it better?" is actually laughable. if you knew anything about music history, jazz and blues had a huge hand in creating rock n roll. Metal is a more extreme form of rock n roll. therefore, yes Jazz is better than metal. It almost worries me that you think that metal is better than jazz? Is classical your next victim? is metal better than classical? you're treading on some dangerous lines.

Skill is what music is all about, without it, anyone can make music. Take nu-metal for instance. It's a joke. it's all just dudes playing drop-d guitars. it's played out and boring.

onto the whole thing with Metallica. Just to let you know, covering a song and leaving out an essential part is stupid. Are you making an excuse for them not putting the solo on? Did they actually say themselves that they did that to "give the song a different feel". Sounds like bullshit to me.

death metal may have the some dumb lyrical concepts but that's not why i like it. It's skilled and alot more dynamic than alot of musical forms out there today. Jack Owen from Cannibal Corpse plays classical guitar on the side and is quite good at it. i listen to music because of the music, not what ideals are behind what theyre saying, unless they're racists which i wont support.

you're mistakes are quite alarming, coming from someone i'm guessing is older than myself? maybe not. I have no idea. You should get off this website, all you do is look in people's profiles for something to make fun of them with. Yeah, thats cool. How about i stoop to your level:
"Hey Matt is that sandwich in your profile there because you want people to know how to reconnize you in public, just a sandwich stuffed in front of a face?"

see? i can do that too! and relax, im not serious about that little comment there. - Mon, 1 Dec 2003 1:29pm

for the hitler/stalin thing
funny as hell? it was stupid

korn aren't emo
and you're saying racism is a big issue, yet child molestation isnt?????

i know who anal cunt are
and you said korn fans only say that when that's a common 'insult'
i never call people gay, and maybe you dont either, but most do

"when did i ever say that in order for a song to be good it has to be technical? you have to have skill in order for me to want to listen to something."
that right there says you won't listen to something non-technical
(most would agree that skill = technicality)

korn don't play in dropped d
they tune their seven strings downb a whole step...they have no open "d" style slam chords in any of their songs
(big deal though, still easy songs)

"i have a problem with really boring, over-rated bands like Korn"
yes...they are WAY more boring than rap
earlier you just stated that there must be SKILL for you to listen to it...old punk and most rap is simpler than korn

i know a lot about music history
i never said metal was better or worse than jazz or classical
in fact, IMO, any music with passion is equally valid
just because something is old doesnt make it better or worse

once again, no nu-metal band plays dropped d guitars
and yes, i agree that nu metal is played out, because of shit like limp bizkit, and formulaeic band like linkin park
this doesnt mean that it's all bad though, every genre has great bands as well as shitty bands

a solo on a song is not essential, in fact, it is the least important part (kind of funny no one mentions they also cut the beginning short)
playing a cover exactly like the artist did is weak
(unless you're a straight cover band or whatever)

like i said, i dont want to dis death metal
in fact, korn was slightly influenced by deathmetal
yes, jack owen kicks ass (but not the issue here)

and i dont listen to korn because my dad beat me or anything, i actually had a really good childhood
dont assume all korn fans are fucked up

i'm 19, so i'm probably younger than you
yes, i should get off this site cos i dont agree with you good one
um...to look at your profile, i just have to click on your name buddy
and i wasn't making fun of you, i was pointing out things I THOUGHT were hypocritical
stooping to my level? i never said anything about what you look like etc...
there is a sandwich in my profile because i like sandwiches
i dont have a scanner or a camera, so i can't really put up a pic of myself can i?
if people recognise me in public, they can come up to me and talk about whatever.
btw...isn't your pic in your profile colorfucked so people can't recognise you in public? just thought i'd bring that up
not that im serious

so stop assuming i read up on everybody, as i am a little more mature than that (what's wrong with clicking on a name to get extra info anyways? jeez...)

so go listen you your music that you like, i won't stop you, i won't dis you.

so why do you feel so smart when you dis what someone else likes (especially when you haven't even heard "take a look in the mirror" in it's entirety???)
you're stooping to adolescent whining because you don't understand something and feel it's your duty to 'enlighten' everyone to like everything you like (because it is morally wrong to have different opinions than you) - Mon, 1 Dec 2003 1:49pm

Out of curiosity though,
would you consider the Deftones to be the same genre of not-metal metal as korn?

People always compare them and put them in the same category or whatever, but i find them to be completely different.

User Info...
i would consider deftones to be in the same genre as korn
however, they are at opposite ends of it

similarities:
both are given credit as the creatros of 'nu-metal' (hate that fucking term)
both bands will survive when nu-metal clones finally die out (soon hopefully)
both bands now use seven strings
both bands are very emotive and have good live shows

differences:
korn-lyrics direct, easy to understand
deftones-lyrics abstract
korn-sing faster
'tones-sing slower
korn-lots of 'effects' from guitars
tones-effects from DJ

i find it kind of odd that you like deftones and not korn, as those two bands pretty much have mutual fans
but hey, good on you
most deathmetal guys wouldn't even think of listening to deftones - Mon, 1 Dec 2003 5:19pm
