Hey, this is The Habitat, and we're planning to put on a big big all-ager sometime in mid Febuary. We're looking for all types of bands as long as you play some sort of rock, punkrock, punk, ska, reggae. We're also looking for somewhat established bands, or bands that can draw a good crowd. But, for all interested, please e-mail us and post with:

-Band Name
-Type of music
-Crowd you can bring
-list of good previous shows

Thanks. let's hear the replies victoria

K, update. The show will be on Friday January 24th @ Fernwood Communtiy Centre. We're looking for some interested bands. The line-up should be out by next week, so post fast. The one catch is every band who wants to play the show has to buy a minimum of 20 tickets from us or Hitch. This is too guarantee a good crowd. Thanks.

I wish it wasn't, but we'd just like to get a good crowd out there, better publicity for the bands who play. - Sat, 22 Nov 2003 9:17pm

The ticket idea isn't all that bad. What band in Victoria can't sell 20 tickets. I guess this is just taking the safe approach, and it guarantees awsome exposure for the bands involved because the crowd will be large. I'd five bands play with a big fat crowd like that. - Sun, 23 Nov 2003 8:34am

Pay to play is weak guys, its this kind of system that has distroyed the California scene. I understand the logic behind it but its a road I would rather see our town not follow down. - Fri, 5 Dec 2003 9:57pm

I've gotta agree with Scott on this. Ticket selling isn't a band's responsibility. It's easy enough for us younger bands to sell 20 all ages tickets to our friends, but if an older band - even by a couple of years - tries it then they might be shit out of luck when their friends will only buy bar show tickets, and they don't have direct contact with their fans. This also leaves no room for a touring band to play your shows, which might not sound so bad right now, but would definietly suck once you try to get yourselves on the road. That being said, I'll be doing my best to be at the FCC to support the bands for this show. - Sat, 6 Dec 2003 9:35am

Yea, the ticket thing is off, a while ago. Kinda a stupid idea now that we look closer at it. But i guess it's always that worry about ticket sales and attendance. But now that we got some bands booked, we're not to worried about these tickets anymore. - Sat, 6 Dec 2003 9:43am

are you guys in it to make money? when i was in a new band we didnt give two fucks if we sold tickets we just wanted to play, at parties, shows where someone involved owed us a favor, pretty much anything as long as SOMEONE heard us. If a band of four cant convince 20 people to show up to a event like this then theres something askew there. I'm not sure of your show history and how much following you have but if the all ages venue is payed off, then be pleased and go from there. Give the left over money out according to the draw of each band. - Wed, 10 Dec 2003 2:02am

We just need to make sure we make the money back to pay for the venue so we can afford to put on other shows, you ass! Think about it as paying $5 as an investment towards more music pleasure in the future. I don't really think you're an ass but come on, we're poor!

ACtually, yea, Hitch is booking this one, so we're really just worried about them making their money bak. But no worries, this one should be packed. January 24th, Smallhorse, The Habitat, Kincaide, Pushing Up Daisies and Hitch. Go to it! Brandon, your band's rad, we should do an all-ager again someday, we'll get something rolling. And Alain, no worries, we're planning a few in Feb, so hopefully we can play with you guys then. - Wed, 10 Dec 2003 4:14pm
