Casio CT-615 Portable Keyboard - $30

Make your lo-fi indie pop band a hit! Is that a hint of respect you see through the audience's otherwise uncomfortable expression? That's because you have a legit Casio from (1990?) complete with 190 voices (really 20 that can be paired in any combination, but they thought hard to name all 190) such as PUNK FUNK and HEATING PAD. You know that band Casiotone For The Painfully Alone? Well, now you'll know the kind of companionship that can never be found with a newer keyboard.
(takes batteries, works fine, batteries included for testing but I'm keeping them, no AC adapter, has a jack for a sustain pedal and another for line out, no MIDI, has intuitive and fun auto-accompaniment)

Pignose Hog 20 Portable Guitar Amp - $35

Bring your amp camping! Play it on the street and annoy people! This Pignose Hog 20 features an on/off knob shaped like a pig snout, growley bluesy distortion, and snappy cleans.

HOWEVER, the rechargeable battery is dead. I do have an AC adapter, so you can play it plugged into a wall like a practice amp. I understand you can purchase replacement batteries from Pignose.

Behringer Eurorack UB502 Mixer - $20

The perfect mixer for anyone who needs a cheap mic preamp or a small handful of channels (5) with stereo outs. Plug the phones-out into your computer's line-in and record through your expensive microphone without any expensive audio interfaces! Be a "noise musician" and plug broken toys and crap into it, then claim to be creating art! Record your band's crappy demo through it!

HOWEVER, I do not have the power adapter for this mixer. I have an identical one for use with its larger cousin, the UB1002. You can try it out with that one but you'll have to order your own power supply online or from Behringer. Should be cheaper than buying a new mixer like this. Or maybe you already have a Behringer power supply and want an alternative-sized mixer?

DOD Grind IT Practice Guitar Amp - $35

This was my first guitar amp! I did a fair bit of shredding. It has an "integrated tube" and two levels of distortion. It says "GRIND IT!" which is pretty rad if you're into grinding things. CD input, EQ, two inputs, claims "max 40 watts" but always ever sounded like a 15 or 20 watt amp to me.

HOWEVER the speaker starts to sound dull and muddy after jamming this amp for about ten minutes at a high volume. I don't know if the speaker is wearing out or the "integrated tube" needs replacing. But I don't need a little amp like this. It's kind of wussing-out my amp fort. It could be fun to take apart and fix or break for a noise project or use for parts, but it still works okay as a practice amp.

Though I am not interested in buying any of this gear (I am actually selling off a lot of mine currently) I applaud your superior writing skills. I found your descriptions of the items engaging and cogent. In an era where so many eschew the required comma that follows conjunctive adverbs, you employ them accurately and without a hint of pedantry.
People, buy this man's gear- he is obviously well educated and will one day rule you like a king! Ease your suffering now by financing his pursuits in higher education. - Thu, 23 Jul 2009 10:00am
