Well, I can't say I "endorse" the nudity, that would just get us in trouble from the get go- but if they get naked, so be it! - Wed, 22 Jul 2009 3:45pm

Oddly enough, I may show at the gig, although I'm kinda freaked cause I've never been there when bands are playing. I hope there's a decent turnout, cause it's only Wednesday. - Wed, 22 Jul 2009 7:47pm

Well that show was fun as fuck. Me, Josh and Brad all got wireless so we were running around the stage like chickens with our heads cut off having a blast (much to Brandon's dismay when I yanked his mic cord with my foot and took his mic out of his hand).

Anyways, thanks Michelle for having us and though it was not exactly 100 people I was happy with the turnout in the end. I'll prob post a ltitle review tomorrow when I am less fucking tired. - Thu, 23 Jul 2009 2:24am

Alright, I got my 4 hours of sleep so I can attempt this.

Class of 1984 kicked things off with some fast paced punk music intersperced with some pretty funny banter from their singer. From what I could make out they played a pretty tight set but unfortunatelly the sound was a little off. Try as I might I could barely hear the guitar in the mix at all, and as a guitar player, I gotta hear the guitars :P The bass, which was very high in the mix, had a pretty nice tone to it and was spot on. I wish more people would have been in the venue at this point because I just get the feeling that this is one of those bands that would really get a crowd of people going... lots of attitude

Self-Inflicted was next and they definitelly upped the heaviness on the show. I'd seen them before almost 2 years ago at Logan's and I thought they sounded a lot better on this night. This band had lots of meaty, chunky riffs that I was digging on. Lots of power chords to slap you around. Their singer had some really good stage mobility which kept the energy level up. Once again though, would like to see these guys play to a crowd that was more intent on moshing or headbanging.

We (Reaver) played next and I think it went off okay on a musical level but fucking awesome on a fun/energy level. Like I'd mentioned, we all had wireless systems for the first time and we were intent on using them.. but we had not had the time to practice WHEN we would move so it was pretty funny trying to barge accross the stage so much while avoiding everyone. I must have dropped my only pick about 4 times, walked into the crowd on the encore, go repeatedly whipped in the face by Brad's windmilling and almost broke the stage with some pretty heavy stomping/jumping and it was the most fun I ever had on stage. We played a new song which is notoriously difficult to play and I thought we managed to perform it better than I expected.

Anyways, the show drew somewhere more than 60 people from what I understand, which was more than I expected for 12 to 1 on a Wed night. We even got a nice gift basket full of junk food afterwards for playing. Nice.

SO yeah, thank you so much to everyone who came out on such an unorthodox day. Our next show is August 6th with Discept and Horde of Anachron at Evo. Hope to see you all there! - Thu, 23 Jul 2009 10:10am

Well I actually made it out to the V-Lounge fer the soiree, here's my review. I actually got frisked before I entered the V-Lounge, that was strange. I managed to catch 2 of the bands (Class of 84/Breach II and Self Inflicted, both bands were amazing) before one of the bouncers said I was too drunk and I was kicked out of V-Lounge (I drank 5 beers max, if I was too drunk I wouldn't of remembered that happening). I didn't wanna bitch that I was disabled, so I left. Apparently I wasn't the only person that got kicked out. I dunno how many people showed up, but why did they have 8-10 security people there? I also heard that bands didn't get drink tickets, makes sense cause of the low turnout but jeez. - Thu, 23 Jul 2009 1:00pm Edited: Thu, 23 Jul 2009 1:07pm

About the Beer tickets: Bands didn't get drink tickets. I was asking for them since 5pm, but all the staff did was either play dumb or say "we are waiting for the bar manager" In the end the bar manager never showed up, they couldn't get ahold of him (so they say, I didn't completly buy the story) and they couldn't give beer tickets without the bar manager's consent.

Security: There was a bit of a security incident last night and the V-Lounge has had some bad security incidents, such as a shooting last year. I'll admit that the frisking is a bit overdone, but just smile, put up with it. If you got nothing to hide, you got nothing to worry about. Sorry you got kicked out Griph, tell the girl at the door next time (Me!) and I might have been able to work something out. But I hope you had a good wednesday night otherwise - Thu, 23 Jul 2009 3:20pm Edited: Thu, 23 Jul 2009 3:20pm

So your the person who couldn't give out correct change. :) Nice to meet you. Yeah I actually like the V-Lounge, usually I'll be drinking there in the afternoon. Security people know what's happening, usually. - Thu, 23 Jul 2009 7:19pm Edited: Thu, 23 Jul 2009 8:30pm

Hey I'm curious, who won the band merch and who won the Obituary tix? BTW: I was sitting close to the stage, and Class of 84 sounded OK to me, course I was also wearing earplugs so I dunno. - Fri, 24 Jul 2009 1:29am Edited: Fri, 24 Jul 2009 1:53am

Griph, were you the one I almoust gave 15 dollars change or the one I had to let go for $2 cheaper because my change ran out and my runner was taking his sweet time getting it? Either way that was before I had enough coffee.

I did a good old fashion on stage auction since we didn't hit $100. A couple won them- $30 for two obituary tickets. Not bad, eh?

Next Black Pixie Show will likely be the China Creeps...details to come...xoxo - Fri, 24 Jul 2009 2:42pm
