Imean, if I want to listen to death metal I can open up my Kazaa for free, buy a $10 6 pack and get buzzed out in my room. As for logans, im playing alot more melodic death now and throwing some oldschool shit in the mix as well, but ill be fucked if youll ever hear me play drowning pool or ozzy or something, so if you want that at logans, Ill tell you right now, stay at evolution. And why monday you asked, because theres no other days to just dj at logans, all the other days are booked up for live shows minus the kerokie night. It's not "metal night" the whole point of the night is to play all the metal other bars won't. As said, you want rob zombie, ozzy, and all that, stay at Evo. The bar *and no this doesn't mean me personally* doesn't want a generic metal night. None of that is anything that falls under any of the fetured genres... If I was gonna play that sort of music I might as well throw in some light punk rock and some nu-metal... If up-beat bands like In Flames, Soilwork, Children Of Bodom, Kalmah, All That Remains, Darkest Hour, Ebony Tears all that and a few older ones like Slayer, Motorhead, Maiden and Boltthrower in there isin't good enough for those wanting upbeat metal then I think the only elitests would be those bitching... The night isin't susposed to have ANY old metal at all, but I play it anyhow because people ask... Now if you've never heard of any of the following bands, check them out, I think anyone who likes Megadeth or any good old trash metal will probably be easily turned on to the melodic death genre. Melodic Death is what you're going to be hearing for the most part at Logan's now purely because there seems to be a group wanting to come down but get totally turned off by 3 of the major genres played *Black,Death and Grindcore* and tend to want nothing but Maiden and all that stuff, so more MDM should ease them all enough to get through the spotted songs of the other genres throughout. I don't go to bars anyways (except for shows of course) but having decent underground metal (or at least metal that you will never hear on the radio or muchmusic) is a plus and should be supported. I mean, shit, it's a metal social, and as if misanthropic-metalheads have pressing social matters and concerns....as per Bill Hicks: "People who hate people, come together!" As far as the "particular playlist" is concerned, there's other stuff that I think should be played as well but who isn't gonna think that? Don't like it? Get on Lew's case, "recommend" something to him. I did. Start a scene instead of bitching... The best you can do is play a nice healthy dose of Black, Death, Power, Grind, Thrash, and maybe whatever other ridiculous sub-genre-alba-core metal people can come up with (joke-ha ha.) But yeah, some old-school 80's tunes too, whatever you can do to appeal to a various METAL crowd. Yes, METAL, not the Arsenio-Hall-arm-flailing-demon-Durst-bullshit. I agree, anybody can get that at any other bar. If "certain" people want to hear stuff like Fear Factory and Limp Bizshitz more power to them, go to Evo, but please don't tell the more hard core metal fans to change their night so that you can come out and play too.
