| _Griphin_ User Info... | (I was gonna post this in the Music thread, then realized it's promotion, although I doubt it's self promotion.) When I was at Black Raven records/books the other day, I noticed there selling the new Mutiny 7" as well as the new Leper 12", as well as Black Kronstadt-The Free Spirit 12" (comes with poster BTW) and a NEOs 12" bootleg which contains both Hassibah Gets the Martian Brain Squeeze 7" and (I think) the End All Discrimination 7" (there both on the bootleg, I wish I could get it but I'm too poor plus I own all the NEOs work). I have yet to hear the new Leper material, but I bought the Mutiny release (what can I say, I love Mutiny), the only bad thing about the 7", it's too quiet, but that's not a big deal. | jeff User Info... | as it so happens...i love bootlegs if someone bootlegged my band i would be flattered. plus it isnt shitty its better then any version on the computer ive heard and the vinyl is pretty nice. honestly the neos music has been out of print for a long time(or im looking in the wrong places) and these bootlegs give a new audience who cant afford the original eps. plus isnt it just as much bootleg if you make it? - Tue, 12 May 2009 1:26am | ||
| Jason Flower User Info... | I legitimately reissued the Neos both on vinyl and CD in 1995 and 1997, so anything I choose to copy for people is authorised. When released in the 90's, there was little support, then it sold out and the blog copies took over. The LP bootleg is a low-quality copy of the CD, the bootlegger didn't even have an original copy to work from; it only sounds better by way of illusion. I doubt there's more than a handful of local kids who'll be buying this boot. The upcoming legit LP is from the master tape, which was lost for 24 years until I found it in London, UK. It'll be done when its done; this work is time & money, the Neos musicians have never sold-out in their ethics, and they're surely more amused by a bootleg than annoyed...but one should understand they were ripped off back then, and now I'm investing $ to put some $ in their pockets. The legit LP will sound/look better, and contain so much unreleased material that the bootleg will become obsolete. | canon.docre User Info... | I for one would be a combination of flattered and totally laughing my fucking ass off if anyone bootlegged and sold anything that I've done, ever. ESPECIALLY for weekend warrior bands who don't need to raise money for touring. In fact since compound terror never did anything than put an upload link for our supposed "CD-R demo" could someone please bootleg that for the 2-3 people who are interested in a hard copy? I'm too busy doing sub-par home recordings to burn a CD and put it in a sleeve. Need money for recording and musical instruments? | _Griphin_ User Info... | I guess VDRP bootlegs cassette demos, but I won't be charging money for access to these demos, in fact I lose money everytime I burn the audio to CD-R. I'd be happy getting the NEOs work eventually, but will the NEOs be seeing any money from sale of the vinyl?!? And when will they be released?
