I want to make a band...sounds easy, right? Wrong. I've been on here advertising my service's for almost every type of music but people on here lack initiative. Everyone talk's about starting a project on here but I haven't found anyone who makes it past a few courtesy emails. So I'm gonna put it out there again. I have all the experience necessary. I have all the gear necessary(for myself that is). I play guitar(6 1/2yrs). I sing(moderately well,I'm no robert plant, but do a mean scott weiland). I've got all the time in the world right now as I'm injured and can't work. My only real issue is with transportation and a jam spot. I'm sure there is a way beyond that. I've got experience promoting bands and managing bands as well as recording. I'm into almost every style(no death metal, grindcore or rockabilly), and have been in several different types of bands. Throw an idea out there and let's roll with it. I'm looking for people in the 19 to 30 range , motivated ,experience in a band that has played live and have an idea of what it takes to be successful. Email me at afterburn_life*at*hotmail.com

It's a tough market, Cody.. believe me, I know. It's a funny thing about Victoria musicians in general that makes them kinda flaky until you hook up with the right people.

Anyway, having said that, the first 2 bands I was in recently (like over the past couple of years) I found through here, but they were actively looking for a bassist at the time .. however I have found that in generally when I have been looking for people to recruit, Craigslist has been far more effective. - Thu, 19 Mar 2009 9:03am

well it's in pretty good shape only thing i think it needs is new frets as it's 20 yrs old and well played it's from 85/86(you can't get the exact date with these ones only close),and the volume pot is a little loose (i think) otherwise it's in great shape with only minor wear and tear. i payed like 350 for it in july 08, so make an offer - Sat, 21 Mar 2009 9:51am Edited: Sat, 21 Mar 2009 9:56am

going to shows and hanging with people in other bands puts you more in touch with like-minded musicians. your musical interests are pretty broad, and that sort of lack of specificity in exactly what you want might be turning others away. I wouldn't blame the site itself. this is just one of many tools in finding other musicians to jam with. the real world always works a little better. - Sat, 21 Mar 2009 12:40pm

I totally disagree. I've found that most of the people I have musical taste in common with, rarely attend shows in this town. I have found more promising people to start bands with, etc from the internet(not necessarily this site) than I ever have through talking to people at shows. - Sat, 21 Mar 2009 3:34pm

well anyone who ever saw lust last year should have an idea of who i am i was the obnoxious orange top hat wearing fool ,formerly the lead guitarist. I will play pretty much whatever...i have no preference. I'm just looking for serious people not flakes.could be a fucking pop punk band for all i care(no this doesn't include you Conversation). If my old lead singer wasn't a douche i'd probably still be playing cock rock.all i was saying is that i've put about 10 posts on here and the only thing i get is "oh that sounds like a good idea!" well if it's such a good fucking idea start doing something with it,instead of having a discussion about it. - Sat, 21 Mar 2009 3:47pm

There's your problem right there. Alternately, you may want to check the "musicians" area on here. I have found band mates that way in the past. It works. - Sat, 21 Mar 2009 4:44pm Edited: Sat, 21 Mar 2009 4:45pm

First question, did you do that parody yourself? Second question, I might be interested in seeing what can be done. I'm a fairly open minded musician too, just not a very good one, though if you need a vocalist for a project I should be able to help out. And the very last thing, just remember how long it took for Cat/Hang The DJ to find a band, I swear that was the longest running thread on here. And I think it worked eventually. Just gotta keep trying, man. - Sun, 22 Mar 2009 12:42am

Sorry, I suppose that could have been written better :P, I play guitar, have a bunch of ideas sounding in my head, and very slowly starting get how some of them could be played. Vocals, I'm competent enough say that I could lend a hand with. - Sun, 22 Mar 2009 12:29pm

I have formed multiple bands and made some great connections through this site. It doesn't always work and sometimes finding the right person takes a lot of time, but I've found it to be quite useful. - Sun, 22 Mar 2009 12:42pm

I have been in your shoes before. With the music you're into making you might have better luck going to an open mic night or recording some of your stuff on instruments. You say you are into making all kinds of music but all I've heard is like electronic/hip hop.

I think most people on here are into traditional instruments (strings, percussion, horns, wind). I definitely have respect for people that program and want to learn it myself, but to me that is a whole different beast.

With the stuff you are showcasing I think you are definitely going to find it difficult to get some of us more traditional (boring) folks eager to test the waters.

Anyways, just a suggestion. Throw some stuff down on instruments. You are definitely creative and have a ton of material (reminds me of MC LARS and MSI). Don't let this sight get your down, keep lookin'. You'll find some good peeps to work with eventually. - Wed, 25 Mar 2009 12:08pm

Codine: I'm ready to jam...I just moved here, I'm a singer and a not bad guitarist...you can hear me at: http://www.myspace.com/wyrmwoodmusic http://www.myspace.com/thenew7percent

I dunno get in touch with me if you want to get something going...I have no one to play with..I own a Mesa Triple Rectifier, and an Ibanez....I had to sell my P.A. in order to come out here so that might be a problem, but I do have some mics and chords still kicking around. - Sat, 28 Mar 2009 9:55am

as far as this site being usefull, I hooked up with Mike Demers through here and we formed Nuvo Wavo which had a very good run of 5 1/2 years and now I've hooked up with a super hot jazzoid guitar player from Montreal, Tom Hunt and we are going to do a 70's funk project, Funk-o-Rama coming to a dingy bar near you ! So it has been productive and I don't do metal or indy ! - Fri, 3 Apr 2009 6:40am
