| Mr. Hell User Info... | Took a trip up to the city that brought us my favorite dessert bar to see a show last night. Started out by ordering a pitcher of beer that sucked so bad it had to be returned and dumped out. The second pitcher showed small signs of improvement, but sometimes one has to roll with it in the name of getting pickled. Hugnelk played the sideways stage first. A group of young lads from Vancouver, they play bluesy rock with strong vocals taking the helm. I was especially impressed with the natural abilities of the lead guitarist who obviously enjoys listening to SRV time to time. Unfortunately, the sound was an issue for Bignelk as the drums had but one mic shoved into the kick drum...the rest was not heard. This band will be worth watching as they will grow into themselves and become a pretty cool, unique act. Their Kyuss cover was pretty kick-ass. I hope they act on my suggestion to them to be a Kyuss tribute on the side because there is a need for such a band. Rorschach drew quite the crowd! I was happy to see that Nanaimo gets it. Really big, pro sound from these guys. Memorable hooks and excellent three way harmonies. They topped it all off with the Beatles cover they did here for their sound check not so long ago. I am looking forward to their album and playing more shows with them. Anyone who hasn't seen them, do yourself a favor and catch their next show. Thank you to Kyle, Sara, Nick and Ang for sharing the pie and hosting us at the hotel for said pie intake. Great way to top off the night! User Info... | it was a pretty solid night i think there was issues at first because there was no one doing sound. but i believe someone jumped on that halfway through great draw from both bands, fun show for sure. maybe im used to pitchers of cambie brew, mine tasted as good as it gets (for the cambnie...) hah - Sat, 14 Feb 2009 6:30pm Edited: Sat, 14 Feb 2009 6:39pm | ||
