Listening to the CD after the show with Do Make Say Think.... I really like this disc..... I think it does a very admirable job of cathing their live vibe.....

I hear a lot of Neil Young in their sound.... Or should I lay off the shoe polish? - Sat, 14 Jun 2003 4:51am
Nicholas i can't stop lsitening to that cd, even though i have played it so many times. definatly my favourite victoria release, and ranks very high outside of the local band restriction as well. - Sat, 14 Jun 2003 5:16am

Word.... I don't think it could ever beat the Ghosts EP for time spent in my CD player, but I could see giving it some serious play... - Sat, 14 Jun 2003 3:06pm
bradley The Chet Cd was long in the making and although they feel it is a little outdated it is such a sincere release. This is the kind of work that is going to help maintain Victoria's reputation of consistently producing some of the most innovative and under-rated underground music in the West. Can't hype this enough and probably don't need to either. - Sun, 15 Jun 2003 6:21pm
Gman They feel it is outdated??? It's not even a year old!

Hell, the band is not even a year old.

Boy oh boy.

Gman - Mon, 16 Jun 2003 12:17pm
Ryan Bill I feel that I am outdated. - Mon, 16 Jun 2003 1:03pm
reg lech Well, I remember when I felt outdated, I just got a leather jacket and some cool shades and started listening to deep purple and getting really stoned. Since then I feel rejuvenated and ready to experiment with a wah pedal and a sitar pedal. I suggest--insist--that you do the same! - Mon, 16 Jun 2003 2:12pm
Lakeboat Heed this advice Ryan, I don't know if your realize just how much Chet could benefit from a sitar pedal. - Mon, 16 Jun 2003 3:09pm
Gman Sitar pedals are great and everything, but coming from a synthy background, I gotta say that if you can get a filter with a resonance setting on it, get that.

ZWEEEEEERRRRRRRRP.

I resonance.

Gman - Mon, 16 Jun 2003 3:24pm
Gman That was supposed to say I heart resonance.

Gman - Mon, 16 Jun 2003 3:26pm
ho hum I don't think I know anyone who doesn't love this album. My parents, my snobby friends, my girlfriend's old hippy roommates... - Mon, 16 Jun 2003 4:07pm
Anonymous I have it on reliable authority that Chet are experimenting with the 'Brown Sound', an incredibly low bass frequency that has been known to cause bowel release in live situations. Attend this band's shows at your own risk! - Mon, 16 Jun 2003 11:29pm
ryan bill Brown sound? what's this? I doubt the shows are good enough to evoke that response. - Tue, 17 Jun 2003 6:03pm

G-Man: Resonance is the shit....

I dunno about Chet, but the first song DMST played on Friday had some bowel shaking bass.... Oh, god.... I was standing, like, 5 feet from the speaker, too...

It's too bad if the band feel like the CD is outdated, but I think it caputred their live vibe really well.... But not cello on the record... Is Hank a permanent member, now? I understand there've been some changes in the lineup.... In that way, I can see it being outdated.... - Wed, 18 Jun 2003 3:29am
ho hum Who cares what they think; it's just a good record. - Wed, 18 Jun 2003 6:20pm

Well, to be honest, I rarely listen to any of those guys when they talk. My eyes sorta glaze over and I start going "Ya... uh huh... sure, ya..."

Ideally, we'll see the updated Chet at East Sooke RnR Fest this July.

You'd better have some deep latrines dug when they let loose with the Brown Sound. - Thu, 19 Jun 2003 2:32pm
