| Anonymous | This bugs me, I've been following these guys for a long time. Moneyshot is NOTHING like blink. They are NOT pop punk, they are not derivative, and the guys in the band have been around the victoria music/punk scene for a long time. They have released 3 albums DIY, given countless touring bands coming through town a place to sleep, food, and even gear to play. They've put on dozens of local shows for other bands, bar and all ages, and they care a great deal about the music they put out. Their bass player owns identity records, which has put out CDs for a ton of unknown bands including all state champion, rewind and glasshead, losing a ton of money in the process. Have you ever listened to them? Or have you just heard the hockey song on the radio, and couldn't even realize they just wrote it for fun? | one man's opinion | A tough one. MS are really nice guys and have done things the DIY way for quite awhile. Their motives for doing what they do are undeniably pure, but that doesn't mean they wouldn't like to be rich and famous. However their music is, well, pretty conventional, tuneful and rockin' but just like oh so many bands. Lots of people think that they're just ace so what do I know. | ya, but.. | Really though, name a band in this city that doesn't sound like alot of other bands, pop, punk, metal or otherwise. I don't really think that's a bad thing. To many people place way too much value on being different. It's rock n'roll, it's like the blues, the rules have been layed out long ago, and that's what's great about it. People talk alot about originality, but really, it's 4 guys with electric guitars and a drum kit. No matter what obscure name you give some genre to try to set it apart, punk, grunge, metal, in the end, electric guitars and drums, it's just rock n roll. Familiarity is part of what makes a great rock tune, and the biggest rock bands in history know this. Rock n roll is one of the most relevant social movements of the last century, and playing rock n roll is about adding to the energy, and continuing the movement, giving in to your musical influences, adding the inevidible personal twist, and being a part of something bigger.
