| Anonymous | When I first received this CD, I�ve got to admit my skepticism was in the forefront. Why would I be so critical of a CD before the plastic wrapping came off? The name: Grace Nocturnal. It sounded pretty cheesy, like a Goth band from the eighties. I had flashes of vampyro, Anne Rice influenced music seeping out of my stereo. To my surprise though, the sound was solid, original and unpretentious. Seven songs: and all of which show a different face. The track �Love me Down� is an upbeat, distortion laced song that seems to be an unintended ode to 60�s garage style rebellion, while tracks like �not the way� takes on a more paced and dreamlike atmosphere. Distant vocals, and electric, whining guitars. The tracks jump from one corner of the mind to the other, showing an uncompromising level of diversity and energy throughout the whole band. Perhaps I should rely on more cliches such as �don�t judge a book by its cover�. | KnifeGhost User Info... | I think The Dude summed it up..... I saw them play a few months ago (went to see The Fine Options open for them), and I really enjoyed the set.... Nothing I haven't heard before, but a fun nothing I haven't heard before..... Big thick guitars, big thick drums, big thick bass, and big think vocals....... But on the CD, it's like they recorded the live set, then turned down everything but the vocals.... It sounds like it was mixed for the radio, and I mean that in a bad way.... The music is _good_, and I can hear the band playing well, but I can't feel like I could at the live show.... I mean, it would be one thing if I just didn't like the CD, that would be fine, but it's a bad treatment of good music...... I think it fell victim to bad production.... Well...
