so this show fucking went OFF in vancouver on wednesday - the turnout was great and the energy in the place was phenominal.

I filmed almost all of CBK's set - so ill be upping it to youtube sporadically. also got most of GraveMakers set - and almost all of Banes set on video -fucking hectic!

heres the first one i upped -

CBK's "Broadcasting" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Q_JtsqAvuI

im a fan of shai hulud - but nowadays they just can transfer their recorded tunes into a live set - it just didnt do it for me.

Misery Signals was lacklustre & i am quite surprised they played second last & after BANE - weird.

Bane's set was intense - such a great performance.

CBK delivered for sure - their setlist was great and the energy didnt drop below maximum.

Outbreak were so great - such a spazzy punk/hardcore cross that translates real well in a live performance.

Grave Maker brought the house down & they opened for christs sake - they couldve been the support act and gotten away with it - so great live.

cheers to the security that let the crowd stage dive like mad! - Sat, 11 Oct 2008 5:03pm

YES! This show went off. I look forward to watching your videos.

I heard a few complaints about the Grave Maker sound, with the sound man using them as guinea pigs, but I was right on the side of the stage behind the PA speakers and hearing things from their monitors. It sounded phenomenal and they put on a great high energy set. It's a real shame to hear about how the tour is going for them lately. I wish them all the best.

Outbreak was really good, and I loved the fact that the crowd got really into it. Not too much arm swinging for these guys, more of a good old fashioned punk pit.

The crowd simmered down for Shai Hulud, and every time I was about to yell in my friend's ear that they were boring, they'd pick it up and play a pretty good tune. They were half good.

Bane was top notch. I haven't seen them live for about ten years now, and they haven't missed a beat. Quite a few people left after them.

I can agree that Misery Signals were lackluster but following Bane cannot be an easy task. Someone ran out on stage and took out the singer. Right off the stage, and too the ground. He's a big dude too, so that was pretty wild.

I have never been a huge Comeback Kid fan but they definitely impressed. I didn't leave until the show was fully done, and it was a long one. Six bands! I just couldn't get enough of watching hardcore kids jump off the stage and not get caught. I think I saw this happen more times at this show than I have in my life. Stage dive to dance floor splat. Hilarious.

But fuck yeah, amazing show. I've only ever been to The Plaza once before this but security was mental then, so it was cool to see them mellow out, and really cool to see the balcony opened up. - Sun, 12 Oct 2008 1:39pm

Fun show, great to see a lot of friends and some great bands (finally got to see Bane!)

Would have done even better if it were all ages.

Hope the guys in GM can make it back on this tour so other cities don't miss out on a set by them.

Glad to see they are all okay after their van rolled who knows how many times. - Tue, 14 Oct 2008 11:31am

Pauly, I was going to say the exact same thing about what you wrote.

You were standing on the other side of the stage as me during Grave Maker, so it's cool to see the show from the opposite angle. That's rad that you migrated to the balcony for Bane. It was funny how the minute they started playing 'Can we start again' all the microphones ceased to work. Their guitarist is mental, but with so much style. - Tue, 14 Oct 2008 11:46am

yeah denny - i had a hectic afternoon - i got jumped and was rocking a broken nose and mild concussion - so didnt want to risk severve brain damage so i took the safe route & got myself distanced from the intensity. im surprised i even made it over - happened at 12:30 and i somehow managed to make the 3pm ferry.

thats insane about gravemaker's accident - hopefully they make it back and continue on without any more probs.

Union events put the show on - and dont think they had any interest in doing an all ager, but who knows. - Tue, 14 Oct 2008 5:30pm Edited: Tue, 14 Oct 2008 5:33pm

damn! so which was more violent? getting jumped or the show? i'm sure it was totally worth it to be a trooper.

i heard the promoters were from alberta. someone told me that the plaza can do a certain number of all ages shows in a year. if this is the case they must have already used them all up. someone else also told me that they were gonna reno the place and move that bar.

this show is still holding influence on what i listen to. outbreak and grave maker have been spending a lot of time in my cd player. - Tue, 14 Oct 2008 7:34pm

Awesome show! I'd love to see more CBK clips, as many as possible. This was my third time seeing them and each has been amazing. All the bands slayed, maybe with the exception of Misery Signals plodding into boring territory, but maybe I was just getting tired. - Wed, 15 Oct 2008 1:13pm
