Epicurean should stick to their day jobs as tea tasters and food critics. Their music is dreadfully gay and they have NO place playing along side bands like Belphegor, Kreator and Exodus.
This enrages me more than a stupid bloody betty act during an otherwise good metal show!! - Sat, 4 Oct 2008 10:52pm

Things are looking up for the future of big shows in Victoria! Curtis has raved about Kreator live for some time now, so I finally get a chance to catch them live.

We arrived there around 10:30 figuring we'd catch half of Belphegor's set. I had no urge to see Borebringer. Saw them at Soilwork and while the first two songs were energetic and whatnot, the rest of their set was more of the same with no variance.
Anyway, get in there around 10:30 and Exodus were up there, except it sounded like a drum solo with static in behind it. It may have sounded better up front, but I wasn't up front.
Caught their last two songs, as well as the hissy fits in between. Someone described their attitude accurately as "American Fuckwads" after their set. I understand the trying to get people into it routine, but if the music isn't doing that on it's own, you will end up looking like an idiot trying to make it happen through negative encouragement.
After Exodus were done, there were lots of angry people running around giving their opinions on why the show started earlier then anyone knew it would. I heard all sorts of stories. Quite entertaining!
Due to the fact I am not into any of the bands that played much at all, I was not upset. I came to see Kreator. I've heard great things.
They did not disappoint.
Tight. Professional sound. Lots of lights. Fog o' plenty.
Mille had good banter which sweetened the great performance they put on. They played 'Betrayer', which was worth the $27 admission.
Lots of happy people afterwards.
I am still curious as to why Borebringer were made to start 45 minutes before the doors opened.
Anyone know the facts? - Sun, 26 Apr 2009 3:53pm

Singer for Exodus is a fucking douchebag. Loved the hissy fit at the end slamming the mic down and storming off stage after insulting the crowd to no end. KREATOR were fucking sick though, glad I saw 'em!!

Sugar isn't commodious enough to support acts this big. It seems like the tickets were oversold and there wasn't an inch of room to move or breathe in there! - Sun, 26 Apr 2009 5:36pm Edited: Sun, 26 Apr 2009 5:38pm

Ohhhhh yesss. I traveled to Vancouver and was able to ditch my family to go to the Vogue Theater and walk in just as Kreator took to the stage. The whole Vancouver crowd was bangin their heads! I sadly missed Exodus but from the Victoria report it seems it was no loss. The two grandpas that where beside me in Vancouver enjoyed Exodus though. But HEY KREATOR delivered a set that was worth every penny i spent to get in. We men don't have to go to war like our grandfathers did so walking into a live Kreator show is close enough. The energy and the power.... besides "thank a god" we don't have to live with the insanity of killing another human. That is if you don't do what Milles wails out of his throut! "PLEASURE TO KILL"

GREAT SHOW and a great band that has been trudging the warzone for some 25 years! This was a show for the grandpas of today and the rest of the headbangers that keep the fires burning! Thrash Metal is alive! lets see if Knickleback works this hard in 25 years!

I was lucky that I decided to show up at 8:30, thinking I'd be the only douche bag waiting for the doors to open..but as you know, when I got there Warbringer was halfway through a great set. Cheers to the singer who launched himself into the small crowd of people, accidently catching my friend Curtis in a noose like choke hold! All was good though!. Exodus- love the music but could not engage the crowd. The tactic of calling the crowd a bunch of pussies and expect us to react is old, we are not a bunch of hot head americans. But the crowd is to blame. I don't know what was going on at the base player's side of the stage (can someone enlighten me) but apparently stuff was being thrown at him and if that's the case, then Exodus had a right to be angry. Just because we don't enjoy a set doesn't mean the crowd has the right to throw crap at the band and it was a bad reflection on Victoria. Kreator was worth the price of admission, sweat dripping, ass kicking (literally, I have the bruises to proove it) highlight of my month. Thanks for the drumstick I had to wrestle a guy for.

A couple of bitchings
1) Fuck off with the sexism security gaurds. I don't need some guy coming up to me to explain before a set starts that people are going to be pushing me. I also don't need the security gaurd getting in an arguement with a friend of mine, calling him a dick, because he pointed out the obvious sexism of the situation. To the fuck that thought he was being a macho man security gaurd- I don't want your fat ass rescuing me from the pit anytime.
2) What is with show times and posted ticked times because completely wrong. Didn't we just see this issue with Sopranos? Not cool, Warbringer desevered a bigger crowd and would have got it if people knew that the show started earlier than what was advertised. - Sun, 26 Apr 2009 10:25pm Edited: Sun, 26 Apr 2009 10:26pm

sorry Black Pixie... i was thinkin about your sexism issue with the security... and decided to reword my above blab.

We men/women don't have to go to war like our grandparents did so walking into a live Kreator show is close enough.

security gaurds.... well it's like the police.... it must be a job that sucks. because people only ever need you when shit is hitting the fan. but again I was never a Jock in school but and i have seen Jock mentality in both security and police... yet again i have seen Jock mentality on the dancefloor too... ahhh the planet and the people.

Quoting the Reverend... "Mille's clawed hands in the air during his screams of, "I want you to kill each other," were a work of metallic beauty."

peace and love -ricky JaK

P.S. I'm only in it for the energy not the Jock mentality! - Mon, 27 Apr 2009 7:42am Edited: Mon, 27 Apr 2009 7:44am

Just wanted to add my two cents,

very dissapointed about the early start. Rolled in there at about 9:30 thinking that the show would be well into the second of 5 bands and i was pissed to see that belphegor was in the midst of playing their last song!

ive wanted to see these austrian bastards for many years now and missing them really pissed me off. who the hell starts a show at 8! Granted IF all 5 bands were playing then perhaps an early start was warranted, but since only 4 played, starting at 8 was bullshit.

the only salvation was the amazing performance of kreator. i think they were impressed with the victoria hordes and im looking forward to seeing them again if they ever make it back. - Mon, 27 Apr 2009 10:32am

For a vid of Kreator "Victoria - I want to see you kill each other" taken with a really shitty camera go to:

For those of you wondering about the early start, it did get announced, via Facebook anyway, that it had been move up an hour earlier. My ticket had Doors 8PM on it.

I'm glad the food guys (Epicrapeon) didn't make it.
Warbringer were ok for 10 minutes I saw.

Exodus - good but ya, American fuck wads perhaps.

Kreotor - say no more. - Tue, 28 Apr 2009 11:52am Edited: Tue, 28 Apr 2009 1:14pm

Nice pics!

I went outside halfway through Exodus to get fresh air so I didn't see the rest of the set. I was pleased with the great amount of BbB songs (well not like they have a choice), but got a bad vibe from the band. The singer seemed like quite a pig, emptying his sinuses from various facial orifices all over the stage, yuck. Plus his shitty attitude. But what exactly happened, fights?

Funniest part during Exodus:

Singer: "Do you guys agree that religion is the most fucked up thing in the world!?"
Crowd: "YEEEAAH!!"
Singer: "Then do you guys agree that Osama Bin Laden and his crew are the most fucked up people in the world?!"
Crowd: ".....uhm....meh, oh yeah?"

Tip for American bands; that sort of rhetoric definitely doesn't have any impact in CANADA.

Kreator was fucking awesome. Best metal performance I've seen in town since Celtic Frost. And Ventor is a machine. Mille was a great host, riling up the crowd like that. A bit old fashioned at times, but that's exactly what you want with a band like them. Great speeches in between:

"I did an interview a few days ago and the guy asked me if I really want people to kill eachother like in our lyrics. I told him that Kreator shows are all about peace and respect. But guess what? I liiiiiiieed to the motherfucker!!" hahaha! - Sun, 3 May 2009 12:44pm Edited: Sun, 3 May 2009 12:44pm
