Lythic Matt I really hope this posts to the right place, the new messageboard doesn't always agree with my comptuer.
Last night I got to the Garry Oak Room late - I missed DJ Knowone and The Wizards of Rhythm, which sucks because I wanted to catch both acts, but hey, pizza needed to be made.
One Drop was the third band on the bill, they're dub reggae. I'm not too into live reggae, but (from the couple of songs I heard) they've gotten better since I saw them in March, and on another night I might have stuck around to watch their whole set, they are really worth watching if reggae is your thing.
I was there for Warsaw Pack, though, and they owned. There's seven of them. They're a hip hop group (though not in the way that you're probably thinking) out of Ontario, check em out at http://www.warsawpack.com. Their set was intense, they've got an incredibly tight band, with DJ, drummer, bass, guitar, and two wind musicians. Their MC is awesome, too, he was kind of quiet at the start of the set, but the songs got more and more intense as the set progressed, and the MC got insane as they went on.
If you're over 19, I suggest you check them out tonight at Lucky. Usually when I talk about bands this tight, I make disgusting similes. So they're just awesome, alright? - Sat, 2 Nov 2002 3:19pm
Carla EVERYTHING WAS SO BLOODY AWESOME LAST NIGHT,
Knowone ( my brother) was laying it all down to set the mood for the rest of the night...
The wizards of rhythm have a funky style that I really enjoyed! And ONE DROP WAS SOOO GREAT, I look forward to hearing them again!
WARSAW PACK ARE SOOOO FUCKIN GREAT. Not only that, they're really nice guys, who helped clean up at the end of the show!
MORE ALL AGES FUNK AND HIPHOP PLEASE! it was awesome - Sat, 2 Nov 2002 6:10pm
Jules I therowly enjoid tha shohh!

I'd like to thank everyone who showed up. Everyone who helped out with promotion, filmed my set, lent me a turntable, phone, or nodded their head!!!

All the preformances where just awsome despite a few techincal difficulties (Tee-hee). I hope this can be the first of many hip-hop/funk shows.

In the mean time, keep listening to ; "Home taping is killing music", for the latest in hip-hop funk devolpments. Every Friday night from 9 to 10:30 pm.

Sweet shows! I attended both and both were awesome. It was especially nice to see those bands play in a hall setting. Made for good energy for sure. All the bands were nice too. Yeah! - Sun, 3 Nov 2002 7:51pm
Humungo That show was quite good even if you werent into that type of music. Dj knowone did a grand opening like always...except no one moved at all (as some already noticed). The second up were alright except at times i found them to be repeating the same lines over and over. The rest was all very good. The last to play (whos name i have forgotten) were extremely good and sounded alot like Rage Against The Machine.

Good job. - Sun, 3 Nov 2002 11:21pm
