me and my buddy just finished walking back to his house through esquimalt, and when we went through the park on esquimalt road of course some of the local gangsters decided to make our night with the usual "hey faggot blah blah blah welcome to esquimalt" bullshit. normally this wouldn't be live-vic post worthy, but then i got to thinking about how most of the would-be gang bangers in this city seem to be concentrated in langford, where i live, and esquimalt. jump to the point of all of this- what i want to know from you, wise and insightful denizens of the live victoria forums, is if some kind of ultimate showdown were to be staged, who do you think would emerge as the true thuglife grand champines if we were to pit every homie in langhole against every esquampton e-unit we could drag up in a good ol' fashioned gang war? - Sat, 31 May 2008 1:06am

My buddy Brad was jumped in Langford and shit kicked and all the usual stuff. But what saved his life is one of the kids that was beating him fell over and started vomiting and spasming and he was overdosing on whatever... So the other kids dragged their sick buddy away to a hospital and that might have saved Brad's life or his teeth at least. Sick fucks. So I agree with Doom. That's rare. - Sat, 31 May 2008 11:11am

I hear people talking about what Aidan mentioned all the time in Langford. those are the stories they tell. they just talk about beatings and drinking. what a boring life. I don't understand how people can be raised to enjoy that. - Sun, 1 Jun 2008 1:51am

I just would love to be there when they decide to attack the wrong guy. I have been in Jujitsu and now fully into Aikido and I know some guys who are so nice, and would never pick a fight, but have been training for over 15 years 3-4 times a week in martial arts. Love to see 6 guys jump one of them, or 12 for that matter, basically all you would hear is snap, crackle and pop while wrists, shoulders, knees, ankles, etc...are broken without them even breaking a sweat. Hmmmm maybe something like this would actually teach those punks a lesson??? Probably not :-( - Tue, 3 Jun 2008 10:47am

If we could round em up and drop them in a bad part of L.A. or New York ,i think they would drop the thug thing quick and run for there lives. - Tue, 3 Jun 2008 12:44pm

12 on 1 eh? I'm sure twelve, seventeen year olds could fuck up a Steven Seagal, Aikido master, regardless of how many years of training. Especially if weapons would come into play. Unless it was straight out of a Bruce Lee movie where his foes come one at a time, otherwise, no...And if it DID happen,it probably wouldn't teach these types of kids a lesson. Especially when drugs, alcohol, and machismo come into play. - Tue, 3 Jun 2008 9:11pm Edited: Tue, 3 Jun 2008 9:18pm

Yeah, I totally agree with Joe. We actually practice that type of scenario. One guy stands in the middle, circled by at least six. The only way out of it is to grab the first guy you can, and use him as a shield to bust out of the circle. Even a top notch martial artist would be hard pressed to take on any more than six at a time. Unless they were total pussies. - Wed, 4 Jun 2008 12:21am

i got rocked by about 10 of those little fuckers a few years back ,they tried to rob me and went as far as to even try to steal the rings off my fingers lol they got nothing i just wrapped my pack around my arm and defended myself as best i could ...at one point i felt one of them trying to get his hand on my wallet so i dropped to my ass real quick and crushed his hand making him squeal like a pig lol used the momentum of the others pulling on my arms to get myself back to my feet all the while absorbing punches and kicks to the face and body ,eventually they started screaming about how they were gonna stab me cause i wouldnt give up but luckily my friend had gathered a small posse to come and save me but of course as soon as the wannabe's saw i had backup commin they ran away lol all that and they still got nothin from me except for blood stained clothes lol i got 6 stitches to my face ,bruised ribs, and a nasty concussion that forced me to miss over a month of work .i agree with grimlord put those so called tough guys in a nasty part of L.A. or new york and see how long they last - Wed, 4 Jun 2008 1:53am

heard there was gonna be a remake of the warriors but if they do its prolly gonna be all hip hop gangster bullshit with 50 cent and a bunch of other pop gangsters doing their thing with a huge annoying soundtrack promoting all their "song's" that they recorded specially for the movie lol - Wed, 4 Jun 2008 3:41am

Gawd, I hope not. Those guys are just a bunch of coke pedaling, bling weasels. They aren't nothing without their "gatts".
The Warriors should be a Heavy Metal movie, no weapons, well, except maybe some baseball bats. - Wed, 4 Jun 2008 4:08am

Classic movie, I also heard they were remaking it. Apparently it is being directed by Tony Scott, and set in LA. They made a sweet video game, haha. They just better remake the Baseball Furies chase/fight scene! - Wed, 4 Jun 2008 5:57am Edited: Wed, 4 Jun 2008 5:59am

I have to say that Aikido is the one main Martial art that you train to take on multiple attackers all at once. Down load the Black belt test of Steven Segal. http://youtube.com/watch?v=YziUvBqX-zI Yes with weapons I defiantly can see 1 man taking them down. When you train 2-3 hours 4 times a week for 15 years of you life in an art that trains you to take on multiple attackers, believe me, like running backwards while they come at you snap wrist, misdirect into another attacker, slowly but surely you would get them down to 6 and by then being the punks they are they would probably run at that point. Believe me I have seen Brian B (4th level Ninja and doorman for Legends) who trained with Master Hatsumi in Japan pull off some unbelievable shit right in front of me in the Dojo so don't doubt it. There are guys that can do it. - Wed, 4 Jun 2008 12:14pm

Yeah, no.
IF your opponents are total pussies, then maybe you can beat them psychologically by destroying one of them, which might freak out the others long enough to get in and destroy a few more. If your opponents are veterans of street fighting, then forget it. They would laugh at Stevie, call him a "contender", then he'd get knifed in the back while he was breaking somebody's wrist.
I have a good friend who got his third dan ninja in Japan. Master Hatsumi hands that shit out like candy. You should ask your friend Brian B about his opinion on this subject, I'll bet he says to avoid at all costs. - Wed, 4 Jun 2008 2:11pm

There have been studies doen testing martial artist's "reactions".

One specific example was testing Judo student's abilities to break falls with skill, as opposed to any other normal person who just "falls down".

100% of the judo "artists" simply fell down demonstrating zero "ability" or improved "reactions".

I've done 10+ years of "martial arts" so have some basis for my opinion. Unless you practie fighting (and by fighting I mean punching in the face, using bats to the knees and tackling and bouncing heads off curbs) you have little to no improved chances of reactive defense than anyone else on the street. Meanig that if 6+ people jump you it won't look like a fight scene in a Bruce Lee movie. It will look like someone got jumped by 6 people.

Casual practice does not replace instinct. - Wed, 4 Jun 2008 3:31pm Edited: Wed, 4 Jun 2008 3:31pm

Powerslave, which is a great song and I just saw them in Van, where do you train?

I started aikido at the Victoria Aikido Centre a few months ago.

And The Warriors is a great movie, metal would be a better theme than rap cause rap sucks. - Sun, 8 Jun 2008 1:20pm

I once witnessed an aquaintence kick the living shit out of 6 people at One Lounge, now Plan B. In all fairness, he WAS a former member of a JTF-2 and trained dozens of the members of the Joint Task Force.
Dont know if anyone remembers a HUGE bar brawl at legends probably about 7-8 years ago when alot of bouncers got the shit kicked out of them and there was 2 distinct sides going at it? There was some serious brawlin' there. But I didn't see one knife or, thank fucking god, a gun... good ol' fashioned bar room shuffle. If anyone was down there at that time; you'd never forget seeing at least 30 people going bezerk at the old pool tables. It was kinda like something out of the movies lol. But unfortunately alot of people(security namely) got hurt. - Tue, 10 Jun 2008 11:00am
