I think it started June 6th 2006..or so they say ( 6-6-06 ) Either way.. seems like a good excuse for a metal show. But like Berg said.. isnt every day international heavy metal day?

its gotta be true, there's a facebook group http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=10114927891&ref=share - Mon, 12 May 2008 9:02pm

Is it Vespertilian? Is that an intentional spelling error... - Thu, 5 Jun 2008 4:53pm

the spelling is Verpertilian. It can be found in The Describers Dictionary and a Robert Graves poem:

'The fiend who beats, betrays and sponges on her,
Persuades her white is black,
Flaunts verpertilian wings and cloven hoof;
And soon will fetch her back.'

Now that was one hell of a earhole shattering evening of heavyness.
Cambr..,er, Rotterdam, showcased some incredible talent. Two of Victoria's finest guitar players in one band. Good heavy bass, and strong drumming. The new vocalist fit in like he'd been with them for more than just the last week. Looking forward to more.
U.T.A., again with the talent.
A.L.D.O.B.F.T., so heavy that when I was sitting on a bar stool, the vibrations coming up through the floor made it feel like I was riding a hog. The mosh pit was NOT safe for women and children.
Crystal filmed the last two bands. I don't know what they are going to do with it, but I would sure like a copy.
All and all, good times in a room full of friends.
The Victoria scene. I like it. - Sat, 7 Jun 2008 4:19am

What a fun evening.
Our set went quite smoothly despite the spur-of-the-moment decisions going on concerning the set. Jason did a great job on vocals considering his throat was shredded from being sick. I had a blast being up there, although I can't wait to be rid of cheat sheets. Very lame. Hope that song I wrote four hours before the set went over well.
Darryl, Jay, Zak and Lincoln were tight and solid as all hell. Loved the mini VHT stack!
Unleash The Archers were a brilliant force to be reckoned with. I was looking forward to seeing and hearing them live as I knew it would be outstanding on stage. Brittney's vocals were spot on and powerful. Tight musicianship! I'm very pleased for Mike. Well done, Selman!
A Lethal Dose Of Blunt Force Trauma heavied it up big time. The real moshers emerged for their performance and drove away the mosh posers. Bram was tearing through the set sounding like he's been training for this night by eating shards of scrap metal and washing it down with nuclear waste run-off...this is a good thing. He was on top of his game sounding stronger than I even remember in the past. Nice to be able to watch from the crowd for once!
Again, the musicianship was amazing in this band. I am blown away at how quickly they have progressed to the tight state they are presently at. My favorite part was the Ripping Corpse sounding section in that song they soundchecked with (and again played in the show of course).
Good crowd. Bad draft. Nice to meet the new youngsters of the music scene.
And TrevorCorey...email about that video thing for the 13th! - Sat, 7 Jun 2008 9:10pm Edited: Sat, 7 Jun 2008 9:12pm

It was with great happiness that I witnessed the first installment of Rotterdam on stage. I've been hearing great things, and the band seems to have a groovy hold on the sound they are working on perfecting. Lincoln has a way with his drum kit that I found thundered relentlessly upon the stage and into the crowd, and Darryl played an interesting and elaborate style that made even the most reclusive of the metal fans feel a little something. Truly a unique band for this city!

Unleash the Archers blew me away -- and I was pretty far back from the stage to be blown away. Brittany has a vocal style that could carry the band -- but that isn't necessary, as the musicianship is unbelievably ornate and catchy. It was a great pleasure to watch this band show their musical prowess live.

A Lethal Dose certainly paraded their meaty chops and heavy grooves, but this evening, Bram (the singer) was exceptionally raw and powerful. The band showed that they are definitely a force to be respected and awed in the local metal scene. From Serkan's meticulous basslines, to Randy's elaborate riffs, the band as a whole wowed the crowd and forced a lively pit with their heavy business. - Sun, 8 Jun 2008 4:54am

yah what a fun night! great turnout and a really good energy from the crowd! Both other bands blew me away, and Mr Hell you make a menacing front man with that scowl as you belt out the heavy as led vocal style.. Lethal Dose had a Lethal Pit! - Sun, 8 Jun 2008 12:35pm Edited: Sun, 8 Jun 2008 8:56pm

Definitely best local show I've been to this year. Might have said best show all year... but I did just see Maiden last week so you can't have that title :)

Rotterdam - our first show, fun as hell! Kudos to Mr. Hell and the Quinch for their "short notice" appearances. Looking forward to show #2 @ Logan's next Friday (yes shameless plug).

UTA - Holy shit Brittenay (sp?) has pipes! That's something that really needs to be experienced live as I don't get the same feeling from the demo songs.
However I'd like to see her in more leather and studs and more grapefruit poses. Would probably be cool to do that on stage too.
I did dig the tunes but somewhat too many changes for me to really follow... but I don't know them either.
Nice to see a drummer showing off real technique (double stroke kicks).

ALFOBFT - Did I get the acronym right? You guys were mean and powerful. Bram, nice seeing you so into it. It is always fun to watch someone feed off of a great crowd.
And holy fucking monster kick drums batman. I already gave the sound guy kudos on that one. Those things were pounding the crap out of me (in other words I loved it). That is what subwoofers are for, glad they were put to full use.

As mike mentioned, it was wicked to see so much young blood firing up the scene (as opposed to our band full of old fogies). Young musicians bringing out young show-goers.

IMO, that show breathed an entire new generation of life into the Victoria metal scene.

Glad I was there.

Oh and huge kudos to Mike for putting it all together and having us on the bill. Much appreciated brotha! - Mon, 9 Jun 2008 1:04pm Edited: Mon, 9 Jun 2008 1:08pm

What a great time! Thanks to everyone for coming down and helping us all kick off our new projects with a mighty fucking bang! Nicly done Mr Selmon (you know I wanted to put Salmon) lol for putting on not only one of the funnest shows Ive ever played but one of the most epic local metal shows in Lucky's history! I personally couldnt have had a much better time and couldnt have been more blown away by the Archers and Explosion. As Lincoln said " This city's metal scene just got alot more diversion. A well needed shot in the arm I think and we ( ALDOBFT ) are looking fwd to kicking some ass again real soon. In fact Im in the middle of booking our next show for July 11th at Logans so maybe we'll see you there! There are pics of the show available on our and the Archers facebook pages!! - Mon, 9 Jun 2008 8:39pm
