T.O.A.D. are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than teh Kid. I heard it was Matt Mayes who is also way better.
Nickelback haters piss me off. Why can't people be proud of them and all they've accomplished?
I'll go to this if Theory opens. I guess they'll never play a bar show.

Proud of what? Carrying the Creed torch of lame-tastic radio dominating cockrock? Inspiring otherwise tasteful and talented musicians to write copycat cockrock because that's what 'makes it'?

Don't get me wrong, 'Leader of Men' is a worthy tune, it's just been a steep downhill since. - Mon, 28 Apr 2008 6:44pm

Look, I really have nothing personally against Chad Kroeger (nee Turton) and Nickelback, I just don’t like his singing voice (although its much better than mine) and I don’t care for his music. I take him for what he is – a man who changed his name to make it big, and changed his songwriting style purposely in order to sell albums in the US. And that is what he has done, sold millions of albums. I think that’s great and I commend him on his success.

He’s also an accomplished comedian. I know that if I ever get pulled over in Vancouver for speeding in my Lambo and driving drunk, I’m going to show the police my VISA card instead of my drivers license too!

Hating on Nickelback-haters pisses me off. We have a legitimate beef, and hold the right to air it at least as often as those 'rock' songs are aired. - Tue, 29 Apr 2008 6:12pm

Typical Victoria attitude to hate on something because of it's success.
I can fully understand Nickelback not being up to everyone's taste, but why the extreme hatred? - Tue, 29 Apr 2008 6:17pm

Look, I'm not trying to get anyone riled up or pissed off. I don't hate Nickelback or Chad at all. Sometimes my comments provoke, and I accept that, but please don't give me grief about taking him seriously. When people do certain things I create an opinion of them, and it's a human response, whether its right or not. I wish Nickelback all the success in the world, but I can't and don't personally listen to their music - it's just not my bag, baby. - Tue, 29 Apr 2008 7:52pm

This whole argument reminds me of something said on the radio the other day that really pissed me off.

I was up in Parksville so I had the Fox on. They had just finished a Tea Party song and the DJ said that Chris Martin had a new album coming out this summer "if anyone cares".

I'm not a Tea Party fan by any stretch of the imagination (every song sounds like a remake of Kashmir), but I thought it was completely out of line for this talentless slug of a DJ who couldn't create to save his own life to be so dismissive of a Canadian artist.

It's hard to articulate exactly why this has me so riled, except that we used to suffer the same attitude in NZ from the punters, "oh it's local it must be crap". Or in the industry, "ooh, they've got a deal, I wonder who's dick they sucked?"

I got no love for Nickelback, and having met Chad, I have an opinion of him. However I will never begrudge him his, or anyone's success. However I may laugh if it turns out to be fleeting. - Wed, 30 Apr 2008 10:43pm Edited: Wed, 30 Apr 2008 10:45pm

It's Matt Mays opening. Which is great. Matt Mays and company are very excellent. I have been fortunate enough to see them in nightclubs, and once at the Arena opening for Blue Rodeo. Playing in the hockey rink doesn't do them justice, at all.

I don't begrudge NB their success, I begrugde them their crappy overproduced sound.

I'm happy for Steve Bays and all he has done, hell I'm happy for Chad, I just wish he would now go away. And not make any more collaborations with Santana. - Thu, 1 May 2008 7:14am

As above, I don't hate them because of their success. I hate them because THEY FUCKING SUCK! I throw up a little in my mouth and have to change the station whenever I hear one of their songs come on. (Doesn't matter which song, they all sound the same)

I also have some choice words about Kid Rock, but it's pointless to delve. - Thu, 1 May 2008 1:10pm Edited: Thu, 1 May 2008 1:13pm

Chris Martin? Tea Party? How is insulting Chris Martin, anything disrespectful towards Tea Party? Chris Martin plays keys/sings for Coldplay, whereas Tea Party are canadian music legends. Explain this to me. - Mon, 5 May 2008 1:45pm

Okay, so I screwed up the guy's name. The DJ was talking about the vocalist from the Tea Party, I thought he said Chris Martin. Like I said I'm not a Tea Party fan, and apparently I'm not much of a Coldplay fan either. - Mon, 5 May 2008 6:50pm

So what is the worst horror? "Analing dead people", or grooving on Nickelback?

Shawn, are you saying raucous analing raises the dead?

Drestroy the Flesh, you crack me up. I might have to change my policy on attending all-agers. Do you accept all agricultural donations, or just cans of cranberry sauce? Maybe a private donation to the bands might be in order.

Anyways, I got a sweet single seat for this show. I can't for the life of me understand why no one wants to come with me. Not even my wife, lol. - Mon, 26 May 2008 3:46am Edited: Mon, 26 May 2008 3:55am
